Found this today in news section of msn.co.uk http://news.uk.msn.com/Article.aspx?cp-documentid=8813458 I had to read it twice cos I thought it must have been 1st April. I think the relevance for here is obvious. Please read and have a laugh but it is for me a perfect example of why will never return to England. Police dog shoes for Muslim homes © ITN 2008 Police dogs could be forced to wear bootees when they search Muslim homes to avoid causing offence. The Association of Chief Police Officers came up with the suggestion to increase respect for cultural sensitivities as it draws up new guidelines on the use of police dogs. Dogs are considered "unclean" in Islamic culture and many Muslims refuse to have direct contact with the animals. It is understood the new guidance could include a recommendation that sniffer dogs should wear rubber-soled bootees when entering mosques and Muslim homes. A spokesman for the association said: "Where possible the police will take cultural sensitivities into account, providing this does not interfere with effective operational policing." Leading British imam Ibrahim Mogra said making sniffer dogs cover their feet would not be necessary. He said: "In Islamic law the dog is not regarded as impure, only its saliva is. Most Islamic schools of law agree on that. "If security measures require to send a dog into a house, then it has to be done."

Hi A sensible reply to an admittedly comical subject ! Sniffer dogs wearing protective wellies is for their OWN safety - in case they walk on any discarded needles. Sorry to be such a crashing bore! Cheers Jo Valentine

Here's another one, must be a full moon this week. Fom todays Telegraph Bristol City Council wants to prune bushes and remove cover from an area known as the Downs to improve the landscape and encourage rare wildlife. But its own gay rights group has opposed the move, claiming that cutting back the bushes was "discriminating" to homosexual men who used the area for late night outdoor sex known as dogging. Work on the beauty spot has been temporarily delayed while talks with gay rights groups take place to try and break the deadlock.

Very sad comments from those who do not have to work in a multicultural society. What is the problem in ensuring we do not upset our Muslim (or any other) neighbours? It is a small thing. If a set of rubber boots can prevent tension............ This is a Muslim country, I take their feelings seriously, and even better, they respect mine. Seems to make sense to non Xenophobes.

The articles were about the uk, which is multicultural ,not Muslim.Nothing to do with the TRNC, which could hardly be accused of being PC,not yet anyway. My feelings are hurt when I am searched going into an airport. The west indian is upset when undergoing stop and search. The 'Wee Free' is upset that everything doesnt shut down in Sunday. The Orange Order is upset that they cant walk a certain route past Catholic homes. Everybodies feelings should be taken into account, not just vocal minorities, but the world would stop if we tried and accomodate everyone 100% regardless of the consequences. Take the case of the sniffer dogs at airports, do we get people of religions that think sniffer dogs are unclean to mark their luggage, in itself discriminatory, what then, all these cases set aside, hand searched and then returned to all the other luggage.Thats just one example. We would need to check in 5 hours before take off.

hilltop, You obviously did not read the full story otherwise you would realise why it was posted. There is no xenophobia, or any other phobia just a sense of unreality from the likes of you. It is like all those christmas parties etc that town halls banned for fear upsetting others, hang on Muslims actually celebrate Christmas and they were just as angry as everyone else with The Lunatics.

CIH, I fully agree that there are stupid people making stupid rules to upset people of all faiths. The point I was making is that in a multicultural society (which the UK is) if small things need to be done to ensure harmony, then so be it.

The old saying when in Rome do as the Romans do, should be exercised by all.One of the biggest gripes against forigners that go to the Uk,muslim or otherwise is they want the rules changed for themselves, to the point now where the brit is a 2nd degree in his own back yard. The politicaly correct unknowingly now have probably increased racial hatred, increased support for the BNP and now it seems the situation is not to far away from the rivers of blood old Enoch warned us about. The Labour Goverments immigration policy, multicultural ideas have ripped the heart out of the UK, and I hope Tony Blair and and his cronies die a slow and painfull death for it. Well I'm off to take spit the dog for a walk down the mosque with his wellies on, and sell a few bacon sandwiches. Have a nice day DN.

two for the price of one, The British Solution to Save Petrol; Brown wants us to cut the amount of petrol we use...... The best way to stop using so much petrol is to deport 3 million illegal immigrants! That would be 3 million less people using our petrol. The price of petrol would come down..... Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard the Channel.... When they catch an illegal immigrant crossing the Channel, hand him a canteen, rifle and some ammo and ship him to Iraq .... Tell him if he wants to come to Britain then he must serve a tour in the military.... Give him a soldier's pay while he's there and tax him on it..... After his tour, he will be allowed to become a citizen since he defended this country..... He will also be registered to be taxed and be a legal resident.... This option will probably deter illegal immigration and provide a solution for the troops in Iraq and the aliens trying to make a better life for themselves....... If they refuse to serve, ship them to Iraq anyway, without the canteen, rifle or ammo..... Problem solved.....

he by gum brod 41 nowt wrong wih that post. Perhaps those who promote the uk as being a multicultural society will also promote trnc as a multicultural society giving us christians the right to blah blah blah and grants. I think not as I have seen it so many times on boards we are guests in this country and wmust adapt to our hosts ways and customs. Cake and eat it spring to mind. On a seious note though why could th uk not adopt the policy of we will give citezens of other country just the same rights as their countrys give uk citezens, that would put the cat among the pidgeons

Hi Brod, you miss a key point here, if non of them get in the english would starve as curries, pitzas, kebabs and chinky's, the stable diet of the nation would disapear from the High St. Also after military training instead of just being mugged, you would be getting shot or stabbed and petrol prices would still be up as no illegal labour on the garage forcourt would increase prices. The only solution is to start paying disability, housing, child and sickness benifits in Pakistan, Africa, China, and the middle east then theirs no point in going to the uk. DM

Plans to clear undergrowth from gay sex spot branded discriminatory Work on the Downs beauty spot has been temporarily stopped while talks with gay rights groups take place Bristol City Council wants to prune bushes and remove cover from an area known as the Downs to improve the landscape and encourage rare wildlife. The area of the Downs sits at the top of the Avon Gorge, in the upmarket Clifton suburb of Bristol and is home to various species of rare plants and wildlife. But councillors said it had become overgrown over the past 20 years. Thick bushes cover the secluded area next to a street known Circular Road which has become a mecca for gay men and couples cruising for sex. The area hit the headlines last year when four firemen who disturbed an outdoor gay sex session were reprimanded and fined after they shone torches into the undergrowth. The Downs Committee commissioned a report as part of ongoing improvements to the shrubland and have proposed cutting back a lot of the undergrowth. The move was strongly backed by local residents who complained about "inappropriate sexual activity" and safety concerns in the area. But during the consultation period last year "equality" concerns were raised by the council's Rainbow Group - an action group of lesbian, gay and bisexual council employees - about the threat to gay rights. A report on the plans states: "As part of the consultation, concerns were expressed by the council's Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Group (and a small number of other consultees) that this action was potentially discriminating against gay and bisexual men, whose activities on this part of the Downs were objected to by other members of the local community and Downs users." Council officials have been forced to consult with the police and gay rights group the Terence Higgins Trust to ensure there was no discrimination. Peter Wilkinson, the council's Head of Parks, said: "The general public are unhappy about people taking part in lewd behaviour in public spaces, whether it's between men and women or people of the same sex. "We are working together with the Terence Higgins Trust to make sure any work we will do is sensitive. "We're making sure people know what we are doing so we are not seen to be discriminating." The £20,000 five-year maintenance scheme was approved in January 2007 and work to remove the bushes is due to begin in the next three months. Peter Abraham, a Conservative councillor, hit out at the anti-gay accusations as "offensive". He said: "How can it be discriminatory to clear land that might stop what is an illegal practice? We need to manage the Downs properly. For a long time we have been told that the scrub land needs to be opened up. "I find it offensive to suggest that by taking this action - which might stop people collecting to carry out what some might describe as illegal acts and certainly offensive behaviour - you are being discriminatory." The Rainbow Group refused to comment yesterday but said they stood by the comments made in the report. Police said those having outdoor sex in the area could face criminal charges, and any formal complaints about it would be investigated. A spokesman for Avon and Somerset force said: "Last year saw 250 people arrested throughout the force for offences including outraging public decency to kerb crawling. "Unfortunately there is a minority of people who partake in sexual acts in public places in certain areas which are not only against the law but ar

Do gay sniffer dogs really have to wear slippers on the Bristol Downs? The Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Dog Group have every right to feel discrimated against, barking mad! pass me an Efes, No changed my mind a large Raki! We will all have to move to Holland and sit in the cafes smoking pure weed, and then we will surely be able to put this mad world to rights. "MAN"! Question, if this really was the case, then how many muslim vetenarians would be out of work? As I mentioned before, POLITICS = Poli (more than one) tics (a blood sucking parasite)

| Having worked in the middle east.would not recommend anyone in the gay expat community to suggest to the Saudi authorities not to develop a bit of land for similar reasons. Also, as seasoned beer drinker,I felt discriminated against. Here's another cracker. Rebel the puppy only ever caused offence with his ill-timed calling cards and habit of stealing the window cleaner’s chamois. Now, the German shepherd is at the centre of a political-correctness row. Rebel is the nearest thing Dundee has to a celebrity since Danny Wilson split up. His popular training “blog” details mishaps like bringing down the firearm squad’s computer system by chewing a cable. It was no surprise when he appeared on a campaign postcard for a new helpline nestled inside a police hat. He is the fluffy face of the force, with lashings of the “awww” factor. But not everyone found his floppiness irresistible. A Labour councillor called Mohammed Asif suggested the campaign would “not be welcomed by all communities because there was a dog on the cards”. | Judging from these postings it's obvious the BNP now exports people! "Muslim this and Muslim that! The majority of Muslims have never asked for laws to be changed in the UK,in fact in Islamic law you have to abide by the laws of any country you live in. Muslims were quiet and law abiding that's why people posting here got away with"Paki-Bashing". As for "do as the romans do".How many of you have learned to speak the Turkish language?Did the British do as the Indians did? Whatever greatness Britain attained was off the backs and pockets of these people you now hate. |

Well said johnk49 perhaps the Spanish could get rid of those disgusting 'British' pubs one finds on the Costas and other places scattered around the world. Not wanting to sound like a snob but I get so embarrassed when I see them. An ex-boyfriend (Turkish Cypriot) (many years ago) - taught me some Turkish that I can use sometimes. Many people should get rid of their racial ignorance, I know of highly qualified African/Chinese people who are offered shit jobs in the UK. Not all of them claim benefits however, I know of one man who had two cleaning jobs in Canary Wharf (nights) working for the minimum wage and having to a share a bed in Hackney. Did anyone see that programme last night about the man with 20 children - now that really did get my goat!!!

johnk49 The only people we hate are people like you who obvioulsy belong to either the BNP or the lunatic asylum being discussed. Or perhaps as you disguise yourself you are from some where south of here?????????????? It is people like you who are the real racialists. The posting I made initially is reproduced from the UK press and if you actually read it is condemned by the Muslim community. If you had any sense of humour you would have realised why the initial post was made and the reason for most of the follow up. Nothing what ever to do with racism but the knocking of the lunatics that run UK from Parliament, through town Halls etc. It is most obvious that you either have no sense of humour or are even from the UK by your ............. OK stupid comments. Pike, whatever you do, don't tell 'em your name cos if you smoke you belong to the most discriminated group of all!!!!!!! I hate smoking but think the laws developing world wide are too harsh. Just think if you were black there would be a world wide outcry about civil liberties. OOPPPSSSSS. D

cyprusishome When you read comments like"One of the biggest gripes against forigners that go to the Uk,muslim or otherwise is they want the rules changed for themselves, to the point now where the brit is a 2nd degree in his own back yard." It shows how these stories(true or not) bring out racial hatred in people even though the story was meant to be humorous. On another thread a Nigerian person asked a simple question and was then lambasted by someone who been given a ticket by a Nigerian traffic warden and a couple more because they had received lottery scam emails from Nigerians.A whole race of people put down in one go! As for myself I am not from the south.Yes I was born and brought up in the UK and I am mixed race and I am proud of both facts. I don't consider myself a lunatic nor do I consider my country to be lunatic asylum. It seems to be popular these days to bash Britain, but it still is one of the most civilised countries in the world.

johnk49 The stories were meant to show how ridiculous some of the things that go on in PC world are, but then, I think you knew that but chose to go down another route .As usual anyone in PC world anyone who dares comment on the sillier aspects of PC, is anti gay or rascist or anti feminine etc etc, and basically a nazi. The quoted stories aside Do you not see that some aspects of PC drives people into the arms of the BNP,as they are forbidden to dare mention any concerns about, as an example , the level of immigration from eastern europe, without being called rascists.

WINDY cows are having bright red tanks strapped to them to check the gases they let off — in a bid to beat global warming. The farm animals burp and parp vast quantities of methane — one of the most potent greenhouse gases — due to their slow digestive system. Boffins in Buenos Aires, Argentina, connected a tube in the cow’s stomach to the tank. They found cattle may be responsible for 30 PER CENT of the country’s methane emissions. The gas is more than 20 times more harmful than carbon dioxide in trapping heat in the atmosphere http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/special_events/green_week/article1401179.ece
