I am coming over this weekend and I was just wondering if the new by-pass from Kyrenia to Lapta has been opened yet. There had been a lot of pictures in Cyprus Today showing progress at the new roundabout at the bottom of the hill but no news for weeks.

I would normally take the back road from Nicosia to Karsiyaka but if the by-pass is open I would like to give it a try.

Any News?

It's usable from Ezic to the 24 hour Alpet garage, albeit with some lane restrictions.

The link from the Nicosia/Kyrenia road could well be open by the time you arrive. You're already diverted to the new roundabout, but a couple of days ago they were still finishing the link from the roundabout to the new road.

From the Lapta direction, the link is open (if, like everybody else, you ignore the no entry signs!)

Just been through Kyrenia and cars were going onto the bypass from the new roundabout. There were some half-hearted barriers but hey, this is Cyprus!
