Brown should never have resided at number 10 in the first place. I think that he's suffering from the 'Billy No Mates' syndrome.

Lots of photographers and journalists outside the cabinet office. The talks are scheduled to end at 6pm.

Members of the Labour government have arrived at No 10. Opinions are that Brown will leave this evening. Let's hope they check his bags incase he mistakenly puts in some paintings and silverware.

It's intimated that Brown will be visiting the Queen this evening.

That's nice for him. I support the Tories, but taking power in this way will be a poison chalice.

There will be more rumors flying around than in North Cyprus right now.

It will be at least a week before Gord is out and the next joker is putting his feet up on the coffee table....

Gordon Brown has a brilliant brain. It is his misfortune that this country wants a celebrity prime minister. It is our misfortune that we now seem to have hoodie hugger Cameron to lead us. What a lot of hoops the Libs made him jump through though. Let's see how he does.

Quote from Simon Hughes, Lib-Dem senior spokesman: "Better to be in government than not." Says it all in my opinion. After the novelty of the post-election results and all the frenetic talks between the parties, and once life in Westminster settles down, I actually think that this proposed coalition of Cons/Lib-Dems will prove (eventually, I hasten to add) constructive and good for this country. Our biggest sigh of relief will come when we see the back of messrs. Mandelson & Campbell who, between them, have manipulated and controlled this country under Labour. Out goes Brown - tonight or tomorrow, followed by the those 2 sheisters.

wotzup7 (21) Comments I made in msge.20 came straight from the Beeb. Seems everyone has now accepted that the Lib-Lab talks are over, Labour have accepted they're going nowhere and the Cons/Libs are thrashing out the finer points of their last closed-door talks.

Brown just gave a statement to say that he is resigning now. He has instructed the Queens private secretary.

He said that he is resigning immediately.

His voice was wavering as he spoke about his wife and family.

Reports are coming out of the Palace that the Queen has verbally abused Gordon Brown. She has asked him why he has chosen this time to resign just as she was about to watch Eastenders. She said her evening has been ruined because now she will have to wait for David Cameron to come round.

Not sure that PR would in the future improve on the shambles we have all witnessed since votes were counted but surely whatever the future rules they should allow a party with the most votes to liaise with other parties if they believe that will bring more decisive government but never a party which has less votes to continue to vie for government. For a party with some 50+ votes to be prostituting themselves to the highest bidder is a disgrace. Have little faith in Cameron being strong enough in character, maturity and experience to see us clear of the mire but Blair and Brown, in my view, have in a decade destroyed all that the British people have worked hard for since WW2. Thank God that meddlesome Mandelson (who many believe should be in prison) and his like have been put on the back burner for the time being. Bring back Guy Fawkes ?

It remains to be seen what transpires with Cameron in charge and I have no doubt some of you will deny having made the statements regarding the future ( as with the Iraq war - where all were for it at first and later denied this ) which you have recently made.

However, given some of the infantile and crass comments made on this forum by supposed adults reinforces my belief that brit ex pat mentality, which seems to be mostly working class right wing in nature, is indeed spoiling TRNC as a holiday destination and probably not contributing much to the culture of the place unless ignorance and stupidity are counted as pluses.

Someone actually mentioned Hague as a plus ?!!

In any case unless and until we re-instate our manufacturing base which was destroyed in the 80s we have little hope of ever becoming a world class power again and will probably end up like Greece.

And it doesn't matter which party does it !!!!
