We are surrounded by real owls and hawks and the sparrows seem to take no notice... I think you might be wasting good money..

The hooded crow seems to be the most prolific predator of sparrows (babies at least).

friends of mine had a problem with pigeons and searched for a solution online and came across these owls that fix to the roof. they brought them out with them from the uk and could see that they worked and the pigeons weren't coming near them. don't know if it would work with sparrows but don't see why not. don't know the web address they got them from but if you do a search i'm sure you could locate it. good luck
