| A driver tore the roof off his double-decker bus going under a low bridge - after apparently forgetting the height of his vehicle. Metal and glass sheared off the green bus as it squeezed under the bridge close to a railway station. The driver, 49, kept going for around 100 yards before finally coming to a standstill. When he got out of the vehicle, he discovered its roof lying on the road under the bridge. He claimed he had simply forgotten how big the vehicle was - and then reportedly phoned his employer to tell them they now owned an open top bus. Witness Zed Mahmood, 25, said: 'He usually comes in a single-decker and he forgot he was in a taller vehicle. 'He was very shaken up. There were paramedics on the scene checking him over. He wasn't visibly injured but was shocked by what had happened. 'He was on the way back from the depot from what I've been told.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1278034/I-forgot-I-double-decker-Bus-driver-tears-roof-going-low-bridge.html |
