basheer - we are on Turkcell network. All we do it top up the phone when we get there. We get ours from Dolmaci's supermarket in Alsancak. You give them your phone number, tell them how much credit you want and off you go!

Good luck with your flight, by the way.

Not sure about that "lost credit" comment (5).

I seem to remember I couldn't use fone in December 09 having been away since July 09 but once I put on credit I could and previous credit was restored.

The phone needs to be left switched on and on charge in TRNC and for you to periodically phone the number from the UK. This will register as usage and keep the number active. I have done this for over 3 years with periods of over 6 moths between visits.

Confirm what's been said in message 6 - once you get your phone topped up, all credits are restored.

Have never left the phone on charge whilst not there (electric switched off) and so far have had no problems.
