Hi, can anyone recommend somewhere to get a laptop repaired. either a shop or mobile, location Girne.

Have seen a couple of adverts in Cyprus Today but would appreciate genuine recomendations from satisfied customers. Thanks.

If it's a Toshiba I'd take it to the Toshiba repair centre in the south... If it is, ask and I'll give you directions.

There's a computer shop in Girne just before you get to the Nicosia roundabout (coming from Lapta) on the left in the block before the Pound shop who fix laptops and are very good. They fixed my Toshiba laptop that the guy in the south told me needed a new mother board. Can't remember the name of the shop I'm afraid.

Msg 3.

The name of the shop to which you refer is Comaks. They have been trading for at least 8 years now, but in a different shop, in the past. I would recommend them too.

ı have an HP that needs a fix where the charger plugs into the laptop. Does anyone know anyone who can take care of this or specializes in HPs? Do the above recommendations still hold?

mahdel, If your fault is that the pin inside the laptop or the holding device (little bit of plastic) have either snapped off or dropped off then there is no real fix apart from to replace that particular part. However, that part is normally soldered onto the mother board and is extreemly difficult to un-solder and replace unless you have the proper tools to do it with! Most computer shops out here do not have the thin, variable heat, solder kit to do this with and they have great difficulty in finding the exact replacement parts. My best advice for you, if you can still charge your laptop, is to have it repaired in the UK and not chance it out here.

I have had a number of U/S laptops given to me with the same fault and although I have the kit to do the job (and the skills as well) I have only once been able to find a replacement part.

Good luck with it but if it still works - even if you jam the charger in with a match stick - stay with it for now!

Laconic Computers are good for computers and printers, on the left going through karaoglanoglu towards Alsancak next to Hur Deniz shop , also Comaks on the left of Mr Pound is also on the Karaoglanoglu Road.

H & N Computers on the main road of Catalkoy, next to Mos Restaurant, are good and extremely helpful.
