Has this ever been done to anyone's knowledge? With ex-pats who are permanent residents in TRNC ? Home Exchange schemes exist and operate throughout the world and its just occurred to us that a similar (but more relaxed arrangement) might work for people who would like a change of scene for, say, up to 1 month for holiday purposes.

Just a thought.....

Swannee7

I made the same request a couple of times last year but no joy on the board. I joined http://www.exchangeholidayhomes.com and got a property in Surrey for 2 weeks this summer and a villa in Florida in return for giving up a few weeks in our property here. This site is for people with holiday homes/second homes worldwide. If it is traditional homeswap you want there are loads of sites, a chap on here has some very successful stories to share and also details of the website. Do a search on Homeswap you may find the posts.

If you want to set up a database of people here wishing to swap I would be interested.

Hi Onestop. Actually that wasn't the point of my post. We're not specifically looking to have a holiday swap for ourselves but wondered if the IDEA of a holiday swap had occurred to any ex-pats who permanently lived in TRNC and might actually like the idea of a change of scene for a short period. In other words, if there were any C44 members (permanent residents i.e.) who might want to take the idea further.

Thanks for your input, though.

Off the starting blocks with msge.7 ! Would have thought you'd need more than just a couple of months though, Dawn, to get things arranged/finalised. Wasn't expecting this post of mine to be used as an immediate contact point either, but if it works, it works, so no worries.

Rowlo (9). I get the message but with respect, don't think this has anything to do with a short break holiday swap, which is the point of this thread.

Hi

To anyone that may be interested in a holiday swap for 2011.

We have a 3 bed (sleeps 6) cottage in Smeeth which is a small village in Kent, approximately 20 minutes from the coast and just 37 minutes from central London by high speed train.

Heathrow = 1hr 30mins

Gatwick = 1hr 10mins

Stansted = 1hr 30mins

Our house has recently been refurbished throughout and sits in a nice size plot with a 70ft drive and a 100ft well established garden which is not overlooked. The Village is nice and peaceful and the locals are very friendly.

The Village has 3 pubs (all with restaurants) and a well stocked Village shop. Ashford town center is just 5 miles whilst Canterbury is just 15 miles away.

Any interested parties can contact me at trnclion@hotmail.com

Regards

Gary

trnclion: I really wish you tons of luck with your proposed home swap, more so as you're giving yourselves plenty of time and you've covered the essential points. Hope someone can see the potential here and will contact you direct.

http://www.exchangeholidayhomes.com is great for those who have a holiday home here but fancy somewhere different for a change.

This thread's a bit risky, can you imagine the gossip over the garden fence when one finds out they did'nt have the right china or the duvet was't the right tog!!! Broad shoulders comes to mind.
