Hi all,

One of the posts on here mentions that Turkey has offered to open its ports(again) to the Greek Cypriots,in return for thr gcs opening three of their ports. Will there be a response from the Greek Cypriots regarding this.It seems to me that it is all one way traffic, and the Greek Cypriots wont budge an inch.

This may have been all well and good when a big percentage of countries always backed the view of the Greek Cypriots. But it seems to me that opinions are starting to sway towards Northern Cyprus now.Isnt it time that an outsider(s) where allowed to step in and kick the a**** of the stubborn and backward thinking regime that are the Greek Cypriots.God knows it is 2010,

Grey.

The GC's will not be happy until there is a return to the situation that existed before 15 July 1974.

This can never happen, therefore they will never be happy. Unfortunately they have a good propaganda machine that means the rest of the world only hears the GC side of thye story.

I've not seen anything change in the 30 years since I first knew Cyprus regarding GC attitudes.

Only reason you can cross the border to the dark side is because the GC's were ordered to do so by their EU masters.

I would like to think that the power that the gcs have had since 74 will now start to diminish.More and more truthful stories regarding Turkish Cypriots are seemingly becoming more main stream. The truth is out there, hopefuly the Greek Cypriot propaganda bandwagon will soon be de-railed,and not before time,

Having read 'Voices of Blood' recently I found it incredible that the rest of the world just sits back and listens to the propaganda. The author gives a full account of the indoctrination he was subjected to from being a child to adulthood, in school, in church and in his every day life - an eye opener!!

It's a tough one... at what point do teachers admit to the pupils that the politically motivated propaganda they've been feeding them is a load of tosh?

When are you going to realise that the greeks regard the Turks as second class citizens.

The fact that the rest of the world do not see that is similar to many situations throughout the world.

Take for instance the Turks and the Kurds!?

The unionists and nationalists in N Ireland!?

The serbs and croats!?

The abbos and the aussies!?

The american indians and the white settlers!?

Need I go on???

As one old gent in the back streets of Nicosia said to me after a brief discussion of the Cyprus problem " we Brits have nothing to be proud of".

Littlejohn,

Yeah but we don't teach this sort of prejudice in our schools these days do we? The point is, they still are.

There are still EOKA clubs and the children are taught and made to sing EOKA songs in the schools!

Add to that the indoctrination hammered into them in church and home and each successive generation is bound to perpetuate the hatred.
