Has anyone managed to obtain a water and electricity meter for someone else without having a Power of Attorney signed?

Would it be possible to just provide a copy of their contract and their passport with the fee to Kibtec and Alsancak Beledeysi with maybe a covering letter?

Any info on this welcomed.

Lem if you are not going to be here then you need to appoint someone to have Power of Attorney, and they will need ORIGINAL contract.

Sorry no way arround it.

I'm actually doing it for someone else who is in Hong Kong but can't get a Power of Attorney sorted out because it has to be stamped at the TRNC Consulate in London with him present. He did try the Turkish Embassy out there but they can't help. Any ideas?

Hi

This is an option - it will cost a little money & someone who is here has to be prepared put the meters in their name. Do a rental contract for a short period, get it stamped at the Tax Office & use this contract at Kibtek.

Easiest option is to get it sorted by the builder/land owner as they are the legal owner until Kocan passed over.

They can easily get meter arranged, in their name, just have to get someone to pay the bill in the meantime, when next visit, have the name changed, costs about £60 or so I beleive to have the name changed.

Our neighbours did this.

Only down side is the person who pays the bill in the meantime has to go to the kibtec office to pay, you can't do it at a bank, or at least you couldn't a few months back.
