Steve,

Go to the British High Commission in Lefkosa takes a week to 10 days. You will need your photos and a form to fill in but be very careful you get the photos done properly without glasses if you wear them. Not sure of the cost now sorry.

Go to http://ukincyprus.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for-british-nationals/passports. My husband just got his within the ten days they say. But I think it all changes in June with passports being processed in Madrid, so better hurry!

This morning on the british forces radio it announced that from the 1st of June passport renewal would be taking up to 4 weeks as all new passports would be issued in Madrid. then sent back to the British consulate in Cyprus. There will also be and additional charge for the Courier costs.

I will make this a new thread as I think folks need to be aware of the extra time as to not get stuck.

Hi Scubaboy

Renewed mine yesterday. You must do it before 28th, as after that it gets sent to Madrid and you will have to pay more. Opens at 7.30am.We were first in and was back in Girne just after 8.30am. There are 2 rooms one for visa and one for passport but security man tells you. Very nice and very quick. They will ring you when its ready. Just make sure that your photos are what's required. You can only pay in cash Euros or bank/credit card. Hope this helps.

It cost 304euro for both hubby and me and was told they would be back around middle of June, but I expect it to be earlier.

Hi Everyone

Well I did the deed this morning at the consulate, what a painless exercise (apart from being 152 Euros worse off!)

As you all know, its the last two days before they start the new system which then will take over a month to get the passport, currently im advised its 15 working days due to the hight demand before the change in the system.

Thanks for everyones help and advice, on the 27th of June I leave the TRNC after 8 years to start a new life/Job in Bali, I shall of course be comming back to the TRNC for visits and holidays as I still class this beautiful island as my home.

Regards

Steve

Cheers Mamachina

My old p/port is still current, i've just run out of clean pages to attached visas to, I only have 1 clean page left which i will need for my visa on arrival in Bali then I have to leave within 30 days to go to Singapore to collect my working visa which requires another clean page, so.... basically its costing me 152 euros for a page !!!!

Ouch !!!!!

And yes - Bali is super, i've been a few times on holiday !

Hi

I applied for a new passport on 24th of May, and still have not heard anything back

from High Commission, and they don't seem to answer their phones!!

I need to fly in one week's time.

Is anyone else waiting at the moment for a passport to be returned.

Think I applied on the same day as you Maggy.

Have you received yours back yet?
