The Quad LNB means that 4 neighbours can each receive SKY each with their own SKY Digibox and own card, each with a coax cable feed from the dish to their own house, each paying just over 400.

With a multi switch unit even more people can share.

Rigsby,

that's true, using a multi-swich such as this one: -

http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&q=satellite+multiswitch+price&cid=13240563941811060794&ei=WmcDTL6IOuS1-Qb5v62TCQ&sa=title&ved=0CCsQ8wIwCDgA#p

However, the Quad LNB would need to be changed for a Quattro one...

doesnt the signal depend on how far the dish is to the sky box?

msg12,

If very long cable runs are involved, then an amplifier may be required to compensate for the loss of signal, see: -

http://www.satcure.com/tech/lnbamps.htm

Note that the signal from the dish HAS to be strong enough (noise-free) in the first place, you cannot use an amplifier to rectify a weak signal from the dish (or to boost the signal from a 1.8 M dish so that it's as good as a 2.4 M dish - although a lot of people wish that you could... )
