I do know that many ladies keep themselves busy by going to classes where they make things like cutting up good cloth and then sewing them up in patches and they call it patchwork

What about trying St.Andrews Church(number in Cyprus Today newspaper)? I think they have those kind of meetings.I did hear of a sewing circle there but not sure if it's still running.

Thanks I will ring the church.

Although I have to say the W. I. group I go to in England is not connected to the church at all. Yes we sing Jerusalem and the National Anthem at the end and some even make jam and cakes, but there is much more to it than that.

We have speakers most months and in the last year have had talks on beekeeping, recycling, glass jewelry making, local history and a hilarious talk called "confessions of a mass cater." We organise a walk each month that ends in a pub lunch and have a Tai Chi class each week.

Something on those lines would perhaps go down well here, and when I come to live here full time I will maybe start a club if someone hasn't beaten me to it.

I'm thinking of starting a club up for women. Could call it the "YAK YAK YAK Club"

W.R.V.S. at our local hospital amounts to 160 volunteers . these volunteers carry out vital tasks such as meet and greet, serving beverages to stroke victims and the elderly, helping with feeding of meals and drinks. serving in the hospital shops, working on reception . I wonder is any of this carried out in in North cyprus ? or maybe it could be, just a thought !!
