Have you tried Vitamin B1, I have been using it for months, and it works for me.

Vitimin B complex. plus Jungle Formula spray, cream or roll-on doesn't smell very sweet but it works.

Friend of mine has injections once a month from the pharmacy. Works well, she has a few bites but they don't swell up or irritate so much.

I have a similar problem as your wife, i take a garlic capsule every day a fortnight before i go out and one a day when there and use that lemon oil you buy in the supermarket and it helps me a lot. What i have found to be the ultimate is a cream/spray called Odomos which i bought in Goa and is 100% on me, do not know if its available anywhere else and is very cheap over there.

Mosquit-ex for me - available in the airport. Last time I bought a bottle was £15.95. Dynamite, was developed for army personnel stationed in Aftica many years ago. I've been using it for years and swear by it.

I swear by Jungle Strenght also - I get bitten by anything that is around. When we visited one of the tourist sites I was being bitten to death and the old gentleman there in charge of the cafe game me some stuff to rub on my bites, stings like heck, but stops any reaction. Mentioned it to some TRNC friends and they bought me a bottle of the stuff (can't remember the name so not v helpful but it is difficult to get hold of) it does not stop you being bitten, but it certainly stops the sting developing. I believe the locals make up their own version?

My Turkish Cypriot neighbour uses the locally made alcohol to rub on bites, and another uses the lemon cologne that you sometimes get offered after eating in a local cafe(to rub on your hands)

Roisin, that's what I meant, it's to rub all over not just your hands - but it can be bought in a bottle

I found, after several years of trial and error, that if you are tastey to the little critters out here, not a lot works..however, the only thing that i swear by is, after you have been bitten, scratch the lid off the bite area and then put on the lemon cologne....stings a teeny bit, but after....all itching and soreness goes! Immediately! Trick is, to remove the 'lid'....then put on the cologne. You may end up with a teensy weeny little white dot when it heals....but a small price to pay as far as i'm concerned!

Hi DD,

I love the sound of the advice to scratch - that's all I want to do all day long!!

Trouble is, with the amount of bites I get - only when I forget to use my Mosquit-ex by the way!! - I would end up white all over from all the white dots you say I'd be left with!
