Hi guys, just a warning that i have just got rid of my squatters with, shall we say gentle persuasion. His name is Mehtin kaysim who is a big fat cypriot man who has a young girlfriend and a small baby, he is also known as Martin,. if you rent your house out to this bastard you will not see a penny after he has paid any deposit. i got away with it lightly as he only broke a window and left me with a two month electric bill. this was in the the Bogaz area but he could rip you of anywhere.

I have had similar problems here in the UK...It's cost me a lot of money first to get the bitch out, and second to gut the place and renovate a cottage that shouldn't have need it.

I wonder if 'Mehtin kaysim' aka 'Martin' is the guy I know as well - he rented a house from a Turkish Cypriot in Bogaz, and left owing lots of rent - it was found out he does this as a matter of habit. His (second) wife when they split left the house she had rented in Bogaz owing rent and having locked the doors and thrown away they keys, and apparently you can't break into your own house in TRNC, it is illegal. When the owner eventually got access, she had sold all his furniture and the fridge and the cooker etc.

Actually, having read your description of ' big fat' is not the same guy, the one I know about is roughly 5 foot 3 inches, talks a good talk and sounds v respectable.

The simple answer to that one is for TC's [presumably that's what you mean by 'residents' - expats are only 'temporary visitors'] to get their own laws changed - for the benefit of everyone, I might add!

alamka, it is possible that they are one and the same as my martin was working at the majestic hotel bogaz and left his wife for the dolly bird he is shacked up with now. and he talked the talk and i am gutted i fell for it.I did not go through the courts i got some friends and gently told him to f...k off or else, he s...t himself and left sharpish.

My OH employed him for a period (having been taken in by the chat) and he proved to be a total p**t.
