Just watched and listened to Cyprus, good tune, good singer as well - but then he comes from Wales so he should be! How is this working then? EU Song contest enty singer from Wales and backing group from all over the world - including ONE from Cyprus! Have they changed the rules since Wogan legged it? Or Has the South expropriated Wales at long last and if so where is the UN and the leek line????? Not staying up beyond Turkey and think that a country that begins with "A" will win - the singer even comes from the same country so that must give them extra points!

Poland giving the UK points in tonight's Eurovision. Surely its against the rules to vote for your own country?

I don't know why anyone bothers organizing, taking part, or even watching this pile of 'political' crap.

I didn't bother waiting around for the voting as it just winds me up. Our entry this year was absolutely dire, the notes as they were finishing were cringingly bad and they had no personality whatsoever. Thing is, the UK public voted for them!!! I thought the Abba-like song at the end stood a chance, but as always it's good for a laugh - especially the girl with the heaving chest that was singing about apricots stones. EH???????!!!!.

It was all so second rate what I did glimpse at, simply awfull .... Do we want to win? dont think so.... Do we send in second quality footballers for the world cup, second quality for the olympics, nooooo, most were just Karaoke pub ploders.... Susan Boyle were were you.... Perhaps Simon Cowel should be put to the helm....

Lilli, Not quite, I did say the winner would begin with an "A" and as most of the announcements - for some reason that I fail to understand - have to be given in French, then Allemagne fits the bill quite well. Its about time the French learnt English anyway, theirs was the only announcer that had to say everything in the native tounge! Its good to see so many negative comments about the show considering that the negative comment makers do not watch it and therefore have no idea how it has changed over the years. Even the voteing at the end gives you insight into the political thoughts across the board - 10 for Turkey and then 12 for Greece from the UK tells you that Phil is still alive! The not so sutble 12 for 12 between Greece and Cyprus is standard now and at least you know that both sides have wasted their own points. I still think that the bird with the big almonds should have won - or the French who at least looked like they enjoyed it all - did I say that????

Hey Waddo, The Azeri's and TR normally exchange 12 pints, too ;) Was I the only one to wonder at the acoustics for the UK entrant - sounded like he couldn't sing.. I'm not objective as I'd have voted for the good looking brunettes from Georgia, Azerbaijan, Romania.....

Waddo, Celine Dion represented Switzerland in 1988. You don't to have a person from the country to represent you.

When are we going to learn to put something/someone in this contest who is up to date, instead of trying to recreate a "Eurovision" type song. The top two finishers were both modern, i.e. the German girl very Lilly Allen, Gabriella Cilmi type and the Turkish a modern group. Just my opinion ;-)

Re : Msg 16, "...Was I the only one to wonder at the acoustics for the UK entrant - sounded like he couldn't sing.." Yes, he was off tune at a 1/2 note and sometimes the whole note the best part of his performance!

Tim/Sal, Many thanks, I had not understood that bit at all and found it strange that a non-Cypriot was able to represent another country! Acceptable in football and swift country changes for the Olyimpics and I just thought this was different. Hey ho, live and learn. Thanks again.

Stonehouse, That's because in the real world English music is pre-eminent, they can't bring themselves to vote for what already swamps the market place... You only have to look at the charts world-wide to see what I mean...

Maybe Corbo was thinking of Keith Lemon. It sounded like he could have written it - and that bloke singing it was out of tune half the time!
