With the forthcoming visit of the pope to the south of the island and the invitation extended by the TRNC to visit here, will they accept and should he accept.I would love to see it happen but maybe the polotics will never let that happen x

deniz he is german so he may not like italian food. I had the greatest priviladge in my working life as a stewardess, I escorted our late pope to cardiff. When i opened the aircraft doors and walked down the steps to await him, he came down kissed the ground, then took my hand and kissed it.My son was watching from the airport and when he saw me he ran through the barriers, he was around 3 or 4 at the time. The pope picked him up and placed him in the pope mobile whereby he was taken around cardiff. i will never forget that day x

The biggest free mass murderer walking the Planet with his intransigent position on not condoning the use of condoms, especially in the the African Continent where AIDS is running rife killing millions of people, destroying families and societies. There is no guidance from the Vatican to prevent the spread of this preventable disease, but not surprisingly so, as they were Nazi sympathisers and Africans are not considered part of the human race!

Not a catholic, and with a degree of common sense (or any other sort of sense) we could have a debate Richard, but your statement makes you sound like an idiot to me.

Msg 5

You are so right, better let his Disciples abuse Choir boys and sweep the whole thing under the carpet and when caught pay off the victims! Maybe the Cardinals, Monsignors, Priests are just sexually frustrated under the 'celibacy' laws which they 'have' to abide by, which are archaic and obviously unenforceable!

Just watching a michael douglas movie wherby the step father rapes his step daughter and she becomes pregnant, thrown out.It goes on everywhere, what can we do xxx

I'll give you an obscure analogy.

Your best, drop dead gorgeous waitress is robbing you blind but is filling up the restaurant/bar beyond all expectations purely on her presence as an operative. What do you do? Sack her for theft and lose your customer base or accept it and absorb the financial pain?

I am not Catholic, and would not want to be after the suffering the Catholic Church has caused so many young victim's through it's Priest's and Nun's.

My friend was in a Catholic orphanage when she was young and was regularly beaten by the nuns and made to stand outside the Nun's cell all night, the reason she was beaten was because she wet the bed, what's all that about, so called caring nun's.

The worse part of it is the Pope when he was Cardinal Ratzenburger, knew of the crimes of sexual abuse and advised the bishops to keep silent.

James

I agree with message Brinsley, apart from the mass murder accusation, the Pope is, However, preaching to the many Catholic's in Africa not to use Condom's, which is adding to the Deaths caused by Aids.

Well 12 years ago the Pope visited Lebanon and the majority of the country is Muslim, so why not!!

It would be one heck of a propoganda coup for the North and who knows could in some small way open the Souths eyes.

Lilli,

I totally agree with you and its awful and disgusting when its done in the home.

I am a Protestant who is a regular churchgoer and do not agree with a lot of the Catholic Churches ideals, I agree they should come into the 21st Century with a lot of their hardcore ideals.I do not condone the abuse that has been rife within the Catholic Church and it needs to be stamped out and offenders prosecuted publicly and not be allowed to hide behind the Alter!!

I defend the Catholic Church as I have served in a few wartorn countries in Africa and the first people who are there are always the Catholic Church and the good that they do is very heart rendering and done for needs not profit.

Also the woman in Spain and the Postman in Devon, Im sorry but they deserve the harshest punishment that can be meted out. Paedophiles should be castrated and then put in a room with families of the victims!!

That woman in Spain- the rope is not good enough for her!!

Message 14 not for profit? the Catholic Church is one of, if not the richest organisation in the world.

As for you suggestion re Paedophiles they need Psychiatric help not medieval punishment, I must add I do not condone what Paedophiles do, it is disgusting.

I think we all agree about the horror of child abuse where ever it takes place my daughter was raped by her cousin when she was 4 yrs old and he was 16 it took her years to come to terms with it. So i think as regards religion we should agree to differ its a very private thing as to what you believe. Just treat everyone as you would wish to be treated thats my motto. Never mind Lilli you meant well. xxxxxxxxxx

Yes Lilli, Sorry I think your original question got lost some where in the debate about the Catholic church, and yes I think it would be good for TRNC if the Pope accepted and visited.

message 15 everyone is entitled to their own opinion..

But what help would you give them, this tirade about help has been going on for a long long time and yet it seems to be on the increase- there needs to be a detterent.

Last 3 weeks there has been the case of a Social Worker tracked down by Sky grooming girls and going to London to meet her!

The woman in Spain

The Devon Postman

Now the serial killer in Bradford who glorifies in his name of Crossbow Cannibal!!

How many more are lurking!!

Message 18,

I have worked in the field of Psychiatry for many years, it all depends on the situation, many of these people are first time offenders and not recidivist,s. Therefore not picked up by any Social work team or Psychiatric services, I am not suggesting they should be left to do what they are doing, but that they should be treated like anyone else with an illness and given help, and not have their testicles chopped off, what would you do in the case of a woman, what would you chop off.

I 'ghost wrote' an autobiography for a Greek Cypriot man, who was abandoned by his parents when the family reached England. He was brought up in Catholic orphanages in Liverpool and beaten and abused endlessly - in fact, so much so, that being sodomised became the norm for him, so that, when he spent most of his working life at sea, he supplemented his meagre income by 'putting out'. He has never been able to have any meaningful heterosexual relationship.

He is illiterate, so he related his life story on [multiple tapes], but was so emotionally upset when recording it all that he couldn't keep his story in a chronological sequence, which made it rather difficult for me to transcribe.

The title of his book came, without assistance or suggestions, from him: 'Inherit The Gutter'.

He lives alone and told me that the only animals he trusts are his 30 odd stray dogs, which he lavishes all his love and money on.

Guess what - he was also a professional boxer!

Cont'd:

At Christmas he goes to the childrens' ward at the Paphos General Hospital and gives presents to every child.

In his village, he inherited some land. He learned welding and has built a lovely playground, with swings, slides, etc; he has donated it all to the village.

Sad as, eh?

Tenakoutou. It sounds horrific what that young man went through under the so called care of the Catholic church, my heart goes out to him and many others like him, they destroyed his life, shame on the Catholic church for allowing this to continue.

The people involved should have been taken to court and sentenced like any one else would have been, the Catholic church as been a law unto its self.
