Programme on ITV1 at 8 p.m. about English couple who have been living in Cyprus for 4 years. The husband wants to move back to the UK because he misses the marked seasonal changes and the wife wants to stay in Cyprus

Hi Bradus I am sure it will be in the south. ITV probably doesn't want loads of calls from GC's moaning Hi Boredhousewife So she stays and he goes? Statistics show that two thirds of Brits move back to the UK from abroad. Why do people move back? (apart from the seasons) Mind you i did speak to a Brazilian once who is living in the uk, why she had left Brazil. Her answer was 'I just love the changing of the seasons in the UK, in Brazil it is just sun, sun , sun sun and more sun, so boring'

At a (very poorly attended) car boot sale at a garden centre in Girne we met a family who were selling up to return to UK. We asked why and the husband said 'It's too hot' !! Did they only vist in November or January before moiving out lock stock and barrel to an island in the med!! So, word of warning to prospective buyers - i've just had an e-mail from a friend in TRNC who says tempartures this week reached 45 degrees!

Still sounds good to me. They should try being in Sheffield at moment, it resembles the everglades.

Yes sounds good to me too! I hate this awful rainy cold weather. I am happy when its sunny and hot! Having said that though I read in the Daily Mail today that people were on a beach at 9pm at night near Athens because of a heatwave Greece was having. Apparently too hot to venture out during the day so they were allowed on the beach late at night!

Hello everyone, moving places dosen't make life better, contributing to the betterment of environment helps everyone to live happy. Lets take responsibility and do something quick before there are too many floods and too many heat waves....

Hi Sydney There is alot we can do in our own way to protect the environment. Doing our own little bit makes us feel good. It could be a case of damage limitation rather than stopping these things from happening. I have read a number of books and articles on Global warming, but the one that stands out is Professer Lovelock's book 'Gaias revenge'. It stands out for me because this guy has been involved in environmental matters for longer than anybody else as far as I can see. Also he thinks systemically, therefore naturally thinking about reinforcing and balancing feedback loops, whereas most observers seemed to be limited to a more linear perspective and therefore use linear models to forecast and calculate. The world isn't linear, it's systemic in nature. Lovelock is radical and noone wants to hear what he says because it doesn't make good reading. He even stated this week that London may have to be abandoned as the Uk's capital city due to flooding. Lovelock thinks that the whole global process will speed up as the reinforcing mechanisms that work for us start to work against us. Scientists using linear models predicted that the Southern Oceans which absorb large amounts of carbon gases, would reach capacity in 40 years time. Well, they have now found that it has already reached capacity. This is one of our vital defences broken. I think a hope is to tap in to 'Zero point' which can provide us with unlimited clean energy. There are a number of prototype machines that have been built to do this, but we seem to be some way from making this energy reality on a large scale. I was very reticent in writing this because this forum and living in Cyprus is all about having fun and enjoiying one self. Hopefully Lovelock is completely wrong and we can live happily ever after in the glorious sunshine of Cyprus.
