Apparently Theo has not made the final cut but Shaun Wright-Phillips has according to the BBC - full squad announcement at 3pm GMT.

Walcot is really exciting player, i was hoping him to play. His speed really surprises many defenders in the world.

Dax, They have good chance of going further

Yes Jimmy, you are right. But personally i preffer Walcott as he puts a lot of pressure on defenders. Last game against Japan was an example

Picking on form, so why are SWP, Carrick, Upson and Heskey are in the squad, and why no Darren Bent if going on form?

With Carragher there, why take 8 defenders?

It's the same old boys network it's a clique, just look at Darren Bents situation, he get chopped at the expense of that donkey Heskey, John Terry bumping his gums about Joe Cole that hasn't played all season gets a place, nuf said, so much for picking players on form, still, I'll laugh my bits off when we don't make it past the group stage.

hi tatts ,the group stage is a formality, come on england , ps im a jock by the way , we need more posotive vibes , the only thing i fear is tiredness creeping into the players, most of them have had a long season competing in every competition and going to the latter stages of them all .

Hi rowlo, don't forget the USA beat Spain and Brazil in the confederations cup, they are no mugs now, and it's shown that England have struggled against hard working teams, I E, Mexico and Japan, both mediocre teams that work hard, England better buck up because teams will be playing their socks off in the world cup, and from what I have seen we may not even have enough make it past the group stages.

Arsenal winger Theo Walcott was the surprise omission from Fabio Capello's 23-man England World Cup squad.

Walcott, 21, who has 11 caps, started both of England's recent friendly victories against Mexico and Japan.

Darren Bent, Adam Johnson, Scott Parker, Michael Dawson, Leighton Baines and Tom Huddlestone also miss out.

Gareth Barry is included after a fitness test on his ankle injury, while Stephen Warnock, Michael Carrick and Ledley King also make the squad.

Walcott was a shock member of former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson's 2006 World Cup squad, having never started a Premier League game but he did not feature in the tournament and the then-17-year-old's inclusion was widely criticised.

The right winger has since scored three international goals, all coming in a 4-1 World Cup qualifying victory against Croatia in Zagreb on 10 September 2008.

But after suffering with shoulder, back, knee and hamstring problems he has been restricted to 15 starts for Arsenal last season, with his form suffering as a result.

Walcott said in a statement: "I am very disappointed not to be included in the squad going out to South Africa, but completely respect Mr Capello's decision.

BBC

So why is Fabio Capello wrong about Walcott?
