Hi ladies,

I will very soon be moving out to NC. What is it like for hair salons/spas, are there any good ones out there????

Also what is it like to get hold of the usual face creams, lotions and potions etc??? Do the shops sell the brand name stuff?

sorry to be such a girlie! x x

None apparently, take your own. But I do notice, and have gone along the same route, it is v relaxed, everybody likes everybody because of their personality, they don't actually bother with face creams and makeup. If you can't handle life where personality is bigger than makeup, think again.

Posted again to say, did not mean to sound harsh, but it is so relaxed here, forget the usual stuff, and yes, you can get a haircut, if you want to be a skinhead...

Desert rose - we have very good hairdressers on the island! And if you enjoy to have a manicure and pedicure I know a very qualified beautician.

Her name is Mrs Isin. She went to special school in Germany and she is running a Beauty-Salon in Girne. The prices are reasonable. As soon as you are on our island I can give you her contact numbers.

In May my friend was visiting and she enjoyed a manicure and pedicure for £20. She says she pays £25 for pedicure only in UK. She was also amused that instead of the usual array of potions, lotions and expensive creams, her policewomans calloused and weary feet were efficiently treated with nothing more than Nivea and Vaseline!

Hi Desert Rose

There is a shop in Girne High Street near to the round tower, which sells Clarins, Lancome and all of the well known makes of make-up and creams. Not sure of the price as I've given up and just use a good sun cream these days

Nulten Oral is a very good hairdresser and runs NVQ courses for hairdressing. She is in Girne. You can get hold of brand named stuff but it will be more pricey than UK.

Few years ago while on holidaying in N.Cy with friend she took me to a

hairdresser called Filiz, a London Turk, who was very good & reasonable -

They had eyebrows done as well, & from experience in Istanbul the pedicures

& massages are out of this world and cheap. Back here at my own leisure club

the beautician recommended Vaseline for dry feet - it is one of the best cures!

Their hairdressers are very good generally.

sod discrimination I will always be pug ugly ........ but lisa has her trotters done every time we are out there and the girl comes to the villa and charges £20 and she even takes the clippings home. Bit too fancy for me washing feet then scrapping flesh off and then to top it off painting toe nails.

Meanwhile im handing out the VATS.

As for creams I know the chemist in Girne sells pile cream

Hope this is of some use it was for me I can sit anywhere in comfort now

I go to Debenhams and Beauty Line to get my make-up. I also get Avon through the catalogue. Moisturisers, facial suncream nail varnish and other stuff I get from Lemar or a good chemist's.
