Press-ups raise more cash for Ismail's prostetic arm!

I went across to Salamis with my husband to represent Lee Hickens at the event yesterday, John (Bancroft) was doing his press-ups to raise money for Ismail's arm. At 72 years of age John's performance was amazing.......His press-ups were done in blocks of 20 & 25 with a few seconds break between the sets. At the end of the hour, John had completed 912 and was very annoyed that he did not beat his personal best and clear the 1000! John and Liz, his wife, with the aid of their friends generosity raised 2,000 TL with this effort and deserve our congratulations, especially so as John has chosen a secluded lifestyle. They live in a Karpaz village, so appearing in public was in itself quite a challenge for him. Ismail, his mother, and sister came to see John, for Ismail it was the first time he had ever been in the sea when John took him for a paddle, he was very reluctant to leave the beach, albeit with soaking wet jeans!

Well done everyone involved with this cause and such a shame that Ismail had never been in the sea considering their location ! As parents we all took our children to the beach/sea to see their reaction which was amazing even in the UK ! I suppose his parents didnt realise the need to take him ! well done John you are a star in your own sphere !!!! and well done Brightlights for standing in for Lee ! it was great to see you both Sunday at Soyz and look forward to seeing S & S soon regards Barry

Lee, Well done.

Raising £500 yourself through your efforts in the UK is a fantastic achievement, and TonyE will be pleased to inspect and sign off the updated financial statement when you return.

I think that this vindicates you from criticism where on an earlier thread your integrity re bank accounts/restaurants/UK connectiions was called into question.

I have contacted John and Liz, and together with you and Jan they want us to visit them, and present you with John's sponsorship money personally. John is teetotal, but Liz will have a congratulatory drink waiting for us!

Thank You brightlights, We are really looking forward to meeting John and Liz, I am at Stanstead so will just keep it short.

We raised the money in a very short time, with a lot of help from some local people. will tell you all about it on our return.
