I received this email today and I have sent it to the tax office and they say it is a scam. Do not click on the link and do not sign in or give your banking details out. I must say that it is quite good except they didn't put my name in but I am waiting for tax documents which made it seem ok.







Tax Refund Notification.



Dear Tax Payer,



We hereby call your attention to your tax payment refund that has came up to 1211.32 GBP.

You are advised to respond with effect so that we will process your refund through your online banking in next 72hours of receiving the information that we've requested on our home page.



On going through files 31/05/2010, we discovered that your file was neglected

by a Secretary, (name not disclosed). so at this juncture,

we apologize for the delay of your tax refund payment.



Please click here to verify your account information.



The tax refund payment will not be initiated if we do not receive your credentials.

Note : You will need to provide a valid bank account in which the funds will be payed to. A refund can be delayed for some reasons, for example submitting invalid records or applying after deadline.

TAX back do me a favour.

You would get a letter with the amount then they send a Customs & Excise cheque

Thats if your lucky to get a rebate

Exactly Smity. I could see immediately it was a scam but some people can and have been sucked in by it. The email was very good with the HMRC marks etc but the spelling mistakes and missing names are an obvious warning.

The biggest clue 'Dear Tax Payer' ... what no name?



I hope you reported it as a phishing scam.

No post of any kind seems to come out of their refund vetting centre in Bristol,so I would have smelt a large rodent...
