It's on every Friday 10am-1pm, and definitely worth a visit. You can have a relaxing coffee in the garden outside the restaurant and then saunter at your leisure around all the varied stalls.

Carpenters has been working hard these past few months to give themselves a face lift and it's all looking very nice.

*** NOTE: Next Week is Special ***

The Carpenters Crafts and Farmers Market is celebrating its 4th birthday on Friday 11th June. They're having a Fruit and Flowers theme and tea, coffee and birthday cake is on offer to everyone. They'll be a free tombola draw too for all customers.

Everything is available there - casual clothes, art, CDs, books, jams, fresh farm produce, plants, greetings cards, jewellery, gift ideas, pies, bric-a-brac, etc. etc so why not go along and grab yourself a bargain?

Oh, and because next Friday is a special day, apparently there'll also be music, and a line dance troop are going to be there. Don't know if it'll be just a demo or if everyone will be joining in too!

come and support the carpenters and their birthday bash! we may be small but quality is the key word, and yes, pippie is right - the garden at carpenters looks lovely since their small but very effective facelift.

Oh, I forgot to mention. Directions to Carpenters for anyone who doesn't know - driving along the coast from Girne towards Lapta, take the first right after the Bektaş supermarket and you'll see it on your left as you drive towards the sea!

Pippie,re Tombola Draw, don't you mean for every 5 ytl spent at the stalls you will get one tombola ticket or is it now one free.

Dot and Helen who are raising money for the homeless couple in Karsiyaka are doing the tombola stall so please folks get along and support these lovely ladies, take them a bottle or two for the stall.

I apologise now if i have got this information wrong,no doubt someone will let me know.

Chinaeyes, Sorry I don't know the answer to your question about the Tombola.

Hi Stella, It's 10-1 though lots of 'early-risers' are there from around 9/9.30am.

See you all there. x

Chinaeyes, it is one free tombola ticket per customer when you spend 5TL or more. You will have the opportunity to buy more tickets from Dot and Helen to support their worthy cause and win a prize.

There is a lady who makes beautiful cakes, she did one for my friend's little boy's birthday and it was gorgeous. Not sure how much she charges but here is a link to the photos:

Pipee message 5.

Could you just say how far towards Lapta is Bektas Supermarket?

Sorry but don't know Lapta very well, let me have a few markers on the way.

Won't be there till September so thanks in advance.

Hi JanJin, I'm not sure of the distances (perhaps 5 or 6 miles from central Girne?) but here's a few landmarks:

Following the coast from Girne you'll cross over the fountain roundabout and pass Astro supermarket on the left, eventually you'll also pass Lemar on your left, then pass through the traffic lights where you can turn left to go to GAU University. From here Bektaş is perhaps around 1/2 mile further on the right.

If you take the motorway (this is the easiest), heading towards Alsancak and Lapta, turn right at the roundabout to take you down past GAU Uni, then left at the traffic lights at the end and then it's as above - Bektaş on your right and take the next right just after that.

NB, there's also a bus shelter on the corner where you'll turn right to go to Carpenters.

Hope this helps!

The significance of a fruit and flower theme is the fact that this is the 4th Anniversary for the Carpenters Friday Market. According to Pears Cyclopaedia, 93rd edition, page L28, it states that a 1st Anniversary is Paper, 2nd Cotton, 3rd Leather (that would have been exciting!), 4th fruit and flowers, 5th Wooden.......

Re Msg 18:

Excellent! So it'll be a leather theme for Lambousa's third anniversary this December!

Congratulations to all at Carpenters on your fourth.

See you all there.
