'Out of the frying pan into the fire!' immediately springs to mind.

Ask your friends which they would prefer - their villa to be bulldozed, or auctioned?

At least they've got cheap flights back to UK!

'The grass is always greener...........' !!!

Things will cetainly 'hot up' if the Kulaksiz 5 auction of innocent peoples homes goes ahead today!

Robbie,

You will be safer buying in Outer Mongolia at the present time.

If anyone insists on buying here, buy a resale. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE OFF PLAN OR DIRECT FROM A BUILDER OF ANY SORT.

Just to add, South Cyprus is even worse, which considering they are EU means a lot, just like Spain.

I heard today of an estate agent who wouldn't even take on a house for sale unless it had water/electric/kojan in the owners name

If these conditions are satisfied, and you can get a proper survey of the house, the risks are probably similar to many other european countries

The risks are far greater than other European countries and to think otherwise is burying ones head in the sand.Actually saying that we now have an estate agent who will only sell properties that have water and electric connection sums up everything that's wrong with the TRNC. Are we supposed to be impressed that we now have a honest estate agent and we are now in a better position to have the water and electricity that we have paid for?

Wow some people are easily pleased.

Dont think we need advice from people who bought in Spain regarding TRNC property.

If they were that smart at telling how future property markets will go, they wouldnt be needing to sell up in the first place.

Would be a good advertisement point though for estate agents ,along the lines of " Buy in Cyprus ,at least here, unlike Spain, the legal system is English based."

Try before you buy,has got to be the ansa, if you have or can sell your property any where else in the world, keep the money in the bank and rent for a few months and check things out here ( wild horses wouldnt drag me back to the UK or Spain or Portugal) then you are not going in blind, be smart, Cash is King in a recession,

Its not all bad here, just remove your rose coloured spectackles and check things out first !!!
