The freezer part has decided to die on us!

The fridge is working which I find strange and it has been suggested to us that it may need re-gassing.

It is 2 1/2 years old. Anyone else had this problem and if so can you advise please?

Thank you.

Puppylover I am no expert on these but a fridge/freezer combi usually only have one compressor which works the two units, my guess it will be something like the thermos stat or the electronic control gear on the freezer side.

Domestic fridge/freezers have a system where the refrigerant is sealed inside and unless there is a major repair (such as a compressor replacement) or a puncture in the system, re-gassing is not required.

A very common problem with no-frost fridge/freezers is the failure in the defrost cycle.

This might be due to either an electronic or a mechanic defrost timer failure or even the failure of a fan motor which distributes the cold air between two compartments.
