You will have to pay for a faster connection to stream live TV with any success... To get access to UK TV you can subscribe to a VPN for a monthly fee.

To be honest you really need a dedicated fast connection rather than a shared one, as speeds vary due to bandwidth slicing otherwise.

Of course your laptop will need to be up to the task too.. no good have a fast connection in to a slow machine.

I'm not a Whizz Kid of any description...

In that case, you ought to able to get it with a 512k connection. I know I could quite happily even before I upgraded.

What browser are you using?

Hi Groucho

May I explain I have Windows 7 and BBC Iplayer. Most days I have Radio4 on my lap top all day,no problems, but occasionally when I log onto BBC radio 4 I get a message that I do not have sufficient bandwith. I hope this answers your question.

Have you tried using the "lower bandwidth version" of the IPlayer............... Look at the bottom left hand corner of the Iplayer display to select it.

I have a 4g Gezz usb dongle/connector from Turkcell and its fine. I have the same experience and occasionally there is a hickup, but most of the time all is ok and of course with radio 4 you can use the iplayer and listen again. I also use Firefox as well as internet explorer and it does pay to switch if you hit a bad patch.
