There is a lot of threads on this already, if you put fake grass in the google search engine at the top of the page.

when our developers put fake grass in our garden apartments I hated it - but its the best thing they did 4 years on and it still looks like new and no mowing or worrying about watering its great .. Good for children to crawl around and play on too - down side gets a bit hot to walk on in the summer sometimes ! no weeds either

Fake grass does need to be hoovered to remove dust etc - just like a carpet. Mind you, it sure beats cutting and watering the damned real stuff. I know it was exoensive in UK but no idea in Cyprus

The secret is to make the fake version look like the real thing and this has been achieved in Catalkoy.

If you take the road out of Girne to the east you come to the left turning to Acapulco. At that junction a lovely piece of green has been laid, and to make it realistic they have added fake weeds (or they did not put it down properly) which they seem to add to every day.

Worth a look if your passing.

Does anyone have any idea how much the fake stuff is to buy? We saw some in Marshalls when we were over recently but did not get chance to ask the price.

The best thing about fake grass other than the obvious no watering and low maintenance is the biting insects don't breed in it like they do in the real thing... that's got to be reason enough on it's own.

Thanks for that - we don't need that much so we will look at it next time we are out there.

They sell it in Super Home Centre at Engomi in the south and they have a range of finishes... one of which is so realistic it's not easy to spot as fake...

We have fake. Brilliant! Dry within minutes of rain, so good for winter, and doesn't take up the islands precious water. Definitely go fake!

Fake all day!!! Low maintenance, always looks good, great for the kids come rain or shine (no mud) and saves the islands water. even if you have a well it all comes from the same water table!!!
