Hi, the strong winds blowing across the terrace make sitting outside unpleasant at the moment so we are considering some sort of roller blind like the ones which some restaurants have in winter - anyone had these fitted and can give an approximate price and/or recommendation or alternative suggestion?

Thanks in advance

If you mean awnings they are no use in the wind. I do not usually leave mine out when I go out, but last Wednesday forgot to wind it in and when I came back it was broken, the material roller off the arms. They are great for shade if no wind.

Thanks for the reply Diana, sorry to hear of your damage. No, not awning but something that can be lowered from the pergola on the terrace, one side to cut down on the wind. I am thinking of something like a roller blind that can be attached to hooks by the bottom.

You're probably better with some fixed trellis which would 'filter' the wind. That's what I'm in the process of doing, don't want to block the view but I agree, it's impossoble to sit out when the wind is up - I spend my days retrieving stuff that's blown away lol

Thanks all - I have an idea and will be contacting the guy who did our pergola covering - will keep you posted if it works.
