Hi

Has anyone in NC relocated from Dubai?

If you have, any recommondations for a shipping company in Dubai, cost involved with insurance, service recieved?

Also as I will be moving to furnished rented accomodation are there any storage places in NC for my container until I either find unfurnished accomodation or a place I want to buy myself. Again costs for Insurance and storage of container?

Thank you for any and all advice in advance.

We had some household items sent by air freight from Dubai. Sorry I can't help with the costs, etc. as the company took care of this. The shipping company was ISS Worldwide Movers. Contact details: 4303-8644. The service was excellent.

Will you be sending your goods by sea or air? We had a 20 ft. container sent by sea freight from Doha. It took 6 weeks to get here and cost approximately QR30,000 (Dhs30,000). This included insurance.

I don't have any information on local storage facilities or costs.

Regards

Liz

Hi Liz,

Thank you for the Air Frieght info, I will call and have a word with them as it will be nearly the entire contents of my apartment. I was thinking sea frieght as I am not to bothered about how long it takes to get to NC. We had a 20ft container when we shipped our belongings from UK and I am sure it was about the same cost as you were from Doha to Dubai, just trying to find the paperwork at the moment, I put it somewhere safe as the company this end that delivered it were excellent. As usual I have put it away that safe that I now can't find it, it will turn up, I live in hope.

Thanks again for the reply

Hi Carol

We have just relocated to NC from Dubai on the 13th of last month.

We had a 20ft container organised through Jo Valentine and it arrived in Famagusta last Thursday.

Can't fault Jo, Levent and Ibrahim and the cost was reasonable too.

We used a local shifter in Dubai to pack our effects and to stack into the container, again can't fault the service and the cost.

Email to:

smiffiesdubai@gmail.com and we will pass on the contacts.

Good luck with the move.

sunshine and other folks that are thinking of the dubai to NC move, I moved with family, furniture and all kit and kaboodle last June and did it with Olaytrans. They organised a local dubai company to come and pack everything and I do mean everything including the half bottles of alcohol I wasn't going to take and everything went like clockwork. 5 weeks from Dubai to front door (whilst there was a strike on), 40 foot container almost full and I think it was around $4000 USD + customs payment for TV's. I really can't praise Olaytrans enough for the move which saw only 1 broken item, a vase that I packed myself. They even packed my flat screen TV's in wooden boxes for safety.

As for storage, they explained to me that there were 2 options, leaving it in customs which is reasonable for the first month but expensive after that or (pereferably) be here to import the container and they will store at a reasonable cost till needed but that could have changed.

Just an update on the price above folks.

$4000 to the dubai packing company and a further 1300 GBP to Olaytrans in NC + insurance costs with whoever you choose.

If there are any other questions I might be able to help with let me know.

All the best
