Is it just luck or bad luck?

"They are due to go back to the UK later this week, returning to Cyprus for the trial. “I don't want to disrespect this country, but we feel we don't want to be here anymore. We just want our money back and to make sure this does not happen to any other families.”

The couple wants to hear from any other house buyers with similar experiences and have invited them to phone on +442476346210 or +447977825768"

What a tragic story but also they are not alone, something tells me they will be getting quite a few phone calls.

Sal, I didn't understand your first question. Surely, it is bad luck? How can it be anything else?

Slone,

My inference is about fate. Living and buying here is the science solely reliant on luck?

Yes, it was in the south .... but there are so many parallels with horror stories that I have heard here, too. My sympathies are with all those, both north and south, whose lives have been ruined by unscrupulous builders.

I think physical harassment happens more in the south but apart from that there is not much difference between north and south when it comes to buying property here.

Not only happens in Cyprus we have had a nightmare trying to purchase a small bungalow in England. We saw a little bungalow suitable for a retirement lock up and go place and it had been empty for about one year. So we put in an offer and since we did not have a place to sell thought that it would all be ours within 6 weeks. 18 months later and intervention on financial and legal ombudsmen and the Attorney General and we are just about to recieve the keys. Vendor was an Insurance Company who do Equity Release schemes and they were the biggest rogues we had every had to deal with.

So beware buying homes anywhere in the world it seems.
