Nice to see such instant action. Can you clarify for me why a "by one get one free" type of promotion is only available for the products held together with sellotape? If you take two products to the till you will be charged twice. The only reason I can see is to hide the second bar code. But surely your till is clever enough to do the calculation. When the TRNC eventually joins the EU, as it will, whatever the outcome of the talks, that type of practice would be considered unlawful. (And it must take hours of your staff's time wrapping the sellotape round the products!)

I remember back in the UK I went to a local shop and they had cream eggs buy1 get1 free but only one left in the box.

I knew the shop owner and said to him it was a box of 24 so how come only one left?

He said a lady came in earlier in the day and bought 1 egg to the counter and he told her they were on a buy1 get1 free but she wouldn't take the 2nd free one because she only wanted 1.

We both laughed and he opened another box of 24 and I left with 3...

Very refreshing to see a local manager coming on here to raise business for the store. Its years since I last shopped there however, I did return today and spent over 100 tl, so it does pay to advertise. And yes, the mince is good value which is now in my chilli for this evening, yum yum.

It is the 11th June today (I think) - the heading says - Lemar 12-18 June Promotions. So if the promotion is starting tomorrow, how can message 2 complain that it was not running today?

"When the TRNC eventually joins the EU, as it will, whatever the outcome of the talks, that type of practice would be considered unlawful."

What a sad day that will be - the big book of rules will have to be opened and slowly implemented at a rate of one new and stupid rule a day! More departments to run the new rules will have to be opened, more civil service jobs for brothers/sisters/cousins etc will be organised. More signs and "Sell By" dates will have to be printed and guess who will get to pay for all this progressive thinking?????

If the country has achieved what it has - without the EU or anyone else - over the past 35+ years, why on earth would they want to join the EU so they can have it all halted and be told what to do. I do not see them making a big EU flag in the mountainside somehow.

Keep it up Lemar - you may entice me back yet.......................

Just wondering which branch you are referring to Ekrem, or should these promotions cover all Lemar supermarkets?

what about LURPAK butter?

We were going to buy this butter today in Karaoglanoglu Lemar.

It was with indirim.

But when we received the check it turned out you charged the full price !

The first manager in Lemar we spoke to tried to assure us we were wrong , the second gave us money back and apologized.

Be aware of indirims in Lemar!

Any comments , Ekrem ?

We were trying to buy packs of the Lurpack butter , the label was that the price was reduced but in reality...

It was not mentioned on the label - salted or unsalted butter was reduced in price. Simply "Reduced !"

Thanks Ekrem MSG 21.

MSG 22. Just a thought but is this a case of checkout staff needing more training and awareness of current offers?

msg 19.

As you can read from the first message I wrote Lurpak 200 gr butter on promotion list. By mistake I forgot to write either is it salted or unsalted. To avoid misunderstanding I give order to put unsalted also to the promotion list. I am really sorry for causing you such a trouble but be sure of that the first promotion was done to Lurpak salted butter not for unsalted.

I am sorry and thank you for your understanding.

Good Night.

The most important bit they need to tackle is giving the change back, which they very conveniently don't. I saw an expat in front of me wanting her change and they didn't have it. Since she insisted, they had to give her more than what the change was. But it was amazing to watch the girl at the counter finding the right change suddenly running after the expat. It just shows when it is their "little money", it has value, not the customers.

And now that Starling opened very near to them, they must be getting good competition. If Starling gives the right change back with good offers, people will start going there as an option. Food for thought

Dear Sydney,

I think I gave the answer of your question last week but once again I want to remind everybody that all the cashiers at the checkout units are ordered strictly not to do this if a complain will come with the name of the cashier she or he will loose her or his work. I am very sensitive about this case.

Ekrem, could you please ask your store in Guzelyurt to stock "Fruko" soda 1 litre bottles and "Fruko" tonic, also in 1 litre bottles.

Looking forward to a special offer on Angora wine in Guzelyurt!

I visited the store,( Karaoglanoglu/girne) yesterday. I must say the store looked very nice, and all

promotions were clearly marked. I was helped to pack my goods, and the staff were very friendly

and helpful.(and I got the correct change).

Well after a big argument with Tempo the other day when they wouldn't sell me the 4 boxes of Kelloggs cornflakes I picked up because THEY had priced them up wrong (they offered to sell me only 2 which I reluctantly accepted but made sure I ripped up the barcode from the shelf so they couldn't fool anyone else!), I know where I'll be shopping in future.

Ekrem - all the supermarkets had an offer on Bruggen cornflakes a few months ago. I'd welcome that again.

And, at this time of year the big bottles of Hayat water on offer wouldn't go a miss. Some of the supermarkets are offering them for 1TL but only if you spend 50TL on shopping - that's great but not if you're only calling in for a few things, which I often do.

Finally, hubby and I love Baklava. Most of the supermarkets offer it at 22-26TL per kilo but I've gotta say that the cheaper Baklava that Tempo offers for 13TL/kilo is just as good as the more expensive ones. Can Lemar offer something like this?

Hi well yes there is a big notice saying Lurpak butter 2.90 but when it went through the till at Karakum it was 3.90 needless to say I asked the cashier to take it off the bill. I also tried to buy some cherries, had them priced at the veg counter, something happened at the till & a guy walked off with them never to be seen again!

Hi Ekrem, if not too late to suggest new promotions for the coming week please can I request that tinned Kitekat cat food and Friskies cat biscuits are discounted please. They are so much more expensive here than the south side and I would much rather purchase here.

Many Thanks
