I posted about importing generators and have had 5 replies (on page 5 at moment) unfortunately i cant access the post. Just comes up with website unavailable. Using a laptop with vista. I have now tried my pc with xp and same result. I can access the latest post ok. maybe one for the site officials.

Maybe someone can cut and paste post into a new topic or email me .Thanks hammer

Simple answer - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!

The number of power cuts that take place now are so few and far between that a candle between friends works best.

We have never had a gennie in 2.5 years and have never suffered by it.

Quite simply, if you cannot manage for 4/5 hours without power.......!!!!!!!

Goods in freezer will last 18 hours if you do not open the door, lights we cope with a couple of emergency lights cost about 60 ytl. Then use radio or portable DVD if desperate for entertainment.

SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!

The general concensus was that there is already plenty of competition and power cuts are reducing.

I have searched and can't even find the post now.

I posted a suggestion that as an alternative business idea you could maybe consider small househol/site sized desalination units, not seen any easily available, and demans will increase very soon, especially if it doesn't rain much this winter.

You can get small electric, diesel or solar powered units that will de-sal around 2 tones a day, plenty to run a house and keep the pool topped up etc.

All people then seed is a sea water tank, and a fresh water tank, and you can also set up a small delivery truck to deliver sea water (at almost 100% profit) and supply this also.

Take a look at http://www.bluspr.com

http://www.bluspr.com/desalination_faq.html

They probably get then from Chine, have a look on http://www.alibaba.com and type 'desalination' in the search box

You will find plenty od desal units measuring only 1.2m x 60cm x 60cm, small and easy to import and of course plenty of plastic tanks available locally.
