What is the requirement for MOT

I know its been asked before but I want to be sure my UK registered car is going in for it next week.

It will get a TRNC plate after so I think they may do the whole 9 yards and as we have to go to Lefkosa for it I don't want to come back with my failed slip first time

It's got the rear mud flaps its got 2 triangles not a matching pair though

What else is needed?

It has been said before that you need a fire-extinguisher but not sure if that's true or not - guess it wouldn't hurt to have one anyway.

All cars here need an emission test certificate, if you don't have a recent one you can get one from the Alpet garage near Astro (opposite side of the road). Also make sure that your number plates are free from staining - they made us get new ones - might not apply to UK registered cars. As susief says, make sure your car is clean.

They will probably glance at your engine, walk around the car, examine your certificates and issue you with the MOT. Don't forget to go to the tax office first to pay for the test (about 100TL).

The main thing you need is a clean car, the engine compartment MUST be clean as they have to check numbers against documnets.



Next is 100tl to be paid in advance at the tax office.



Then emission test available from many garages across the country, about 25tl.



After that I am afraid you are in the lap of the gods. Make sure the vehicle will pass a UK test but even then if you look strange something will be found wrong.



Personally, had to get 2 new tires, one the tester did not even look at, just said change, then you can change the other one as well!!

take it to erdeners garage ask kemal to do mot pay him after about 30-50 lira and it will pass

and you dont have the hassle he supplies all the safety gear etc

do it dont have any hassle

I can use them this timeas it has to go to Lefkosa for its TRNC initiation ceremony I believe they even weigh it this time a bit like a garden fate

Erdeners Garage is in Karakum, down beside Erdeners supermarket, next to China Bazaar. They are fantastic there, have used them for services, breakdown, emmissions test over past 4 years. Very reasonably priced and a couple speak good English.
