A one year old English bull mastive has gone walkabouts in the Alsancak area.

He's one year old. If you see him please call Teresa on 0533 867 3530. Or

0533 839 9122.

His owners are very upset, thankyou.

oh dear....Bull Mastiffs are very popular with the local people, unless of course he has been neutered...then he has no value, and will be returned, otherwise i fear for him. Lots of good luck in finding him. If you have some photos that would be a great help for those that do not know what a Mastiff looks like.

Hi sorry my mistake it is the wrong one, hope you find the English Bull Mastiff, I will keep my eye out for it.

They must be devastated, maybe it is just confused with everything that is going on with the wedding. We have an English Mastiff and I know she gets upset when things change, they are very temperamental.

Good luck.

Tracy don't be sorry bab....these things happen, and no confusion was had...even if there was, it would only serve to keep the post at the top...so, confuse away...tell a joke or 2 if you want...much better than writing BTTT anyday!!

In fact, why not browse the site for a while, you may find it fun and informative...you might even fancy joining and adding your own stories/pictures and anecdotes...you don't even need to own a pet...just to love them...that's what it's all about!!

No sorry, Kar told me that she was the only one here, I let her have pups when she was 3 and it was a nightmare, we nearly lost her, she had 13, they were very cute but definitely would not do it again sorry. She is too old now, a few people have asked.

Ours wont go in the pool or the sea, I dont know why, she hates water for some reason, we only been here a couple of months, maybe she might get used and go in soon

Hope you find someone, I will let you know if we do

oopsy, i only just noticed this....

Teresa, yes i'm talking frozen bones...i boil them (then save the stock) then freeze them....

A small tip...try to get the thigh bones (from a cow) as they are 'almost' impossible to crack, and last for ages...sometimes i just poke out the marrow for them. The smaller bones can cause problems for some dogs.

Most butchers here are kind enough to saw the larger bones into pieces, so they can get their tongues all the way down the middle so ensuring no marrow bone goes to waste.

DD my dog is NEVER given real bones. When we first got her i done a lot of reading about what to feed her and most of the sites said about bones, she used to have chicken necks cooked of course and then she was ill, we watched her over the course of a week, i had given up all hope of her surviving she had internal bleeding but thank god real name Pertev she pulled through. She has not had a single bone since then.

I know the local dogs eat all the bones but she is too precious to us to risk her life.

I have also read about this too...but, i have to say...in the wild, what do dogs eat? They eat carrion...dead animals, rotten animals, bones and all, and they seem to be able to thrive.

Dogs are primarily carnivores...they need meat, it's what they are supposed to eat by nature. However, i did say to give them cow thigh bones...they are huge, and almost impossible to crack...the idea is, that the dog will have a bone that has some bits of meat on to pick off, but most importantly, tons of marrow bone to lick out. I have big(ish) dogs, and they have never been able to bite through a thigh bone.....yet....

We had a little dog and we would boil up those huge bones they were nr bigger than her, She loved them and they kept her busy for hours, once they got empty we would fill them with dog food or sausages hours nd hours of fun, and very good for her teeth grinding the bone down.

It's actually cooked bones that are dangerous, the world over people are switching back to a healthy raw diet - like Billinghurts' BARF (Bones and Raw Food - or Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) or an alternative prey model. My vet in Istanbul (who actually happens to be Cypriot, just a coincidence) highly recommends it, and the animals I've seen that are fed a raw diet are some of the healthiest looking I've ever come across. After all processed animal foods have only been available for 50-60 years and so many of them are grain based - hardly ideal for meat eaters. A lot of pets actually have to be taught to chew their food when switching to a raw diet because they've only ever known kibble. Weight-bearing bones (like thighs from a cow) are known as teeth-breakers and cooked bones splinter too easily to be fed safely.

AllyTT i absolutely agree with you...and although my own dogs are not on a raw diet, i would always recommend to people this diet. Unfortunately, my dogs do not like raw meat....i have tried it with them many times...to no avail.

I am not keen on giving them, for example, rib bones, as they break up and chip and can cause problems, however the huge femurs are wonderful, and if they are used to them, they will not go nuts and break their teeth on them. It's odd how my dogs will not eat raw meat, especially as i tried it with them from day dot...but i feel compensated in knowing that they will not touch raw poisoned meat that many dogs here, sadly succumb to.

But...every dog, and every dog owner has different likes and preferences..so what works for one may not necessarily work for another. Trial and error maybe the key here...

God I feel bad now my lot get bones all the time, they love to suck the marrow, and as you say does it ever keep the quiet.. What is a preferred diet

Liz....basically a preferred diet is what 'you' prefer....dogs are carnivores by nature...what you feed them is up to you. Personally i would love my dogs to like the raw diet...this is their nature and how it should be, but unfortunately my dogs do not like raw food. Dogs eat bones in the wild all the time...so do not be afraid of giving them bones. Occasionally, dogs have problems with bones, and so they would in the wild.....

As i say...it's up to you as the owner, what you decide to feed them. There are many websites out there that give a ton of advice, but it's up to you ultimately what you feed them.
