The biggest UK regional paper has picked up on the plight of one of the K 5 residents front page news

http://www.expressandstar.com/

An £85,000 dream holiday home in the sun has turned into an expensive nightmare for West Midland couple Anthony and Irene Barker.

The three-bedroom bungalow in North Cyprus was seized by a bank because the land on which it was built had been used without their knowledge as security for an unpaid loan.

Nine other homes owned by British people in the area – one an 87-year-old former Battle of Britain Spitfire pilot – have also been requisitioned in the wrangle over cash borrowed by either the developer or the former owner of the site.

I think the fact that the property you've paid for might end up being auctioned should be widely published and that's a positive affect on the finances of those thinking of buying here.

The TRNC government should step in and tell the bank its their loss not the people who have paid in full for their property.

The TRNC construction industry can not afford anymore bad press.

I agree with you ONE HUNDRED PERCENT malsancak. This practice has got to stop and the poor people who've been caught out should been recompensed by the government.

Can't the government realise that it's better to let rogue banks go bust [for their greed and carelessness] than the whole of the TRNC reputation and economy?

The next [obvious] question must be: can it be that the government knows full well that there are just too many [rogue] banks involved and now exposed to this [apart from them] utterly and universally unacceptable scam?

Why still this deafening silence from government?
