Haven't you heard those non-stop droning swarm of bees ? The vuvuzela (a type of African long horn that seems capable of only producing a single note) is being played non-stop at all matches. Broadcasters are having problems being heard over the din and worse, players on the pitch are finding it hard to hear each other. The French team have already blamed the noise for their poor performance and say they're being woken up at 6 am with the first salvos of the day from vuvuzelas. The South Africans have noted a number of complaints and say they will 'ponder the possibility of a total ban inside stadiums'. Personally, I think the non-stop loud drone actually mashes up the players' brain wavelengths ! That noise is totally confusing and 'dazing'. Bet that's how the Zulus won the war against our Redcoats at Rorke's Drift!

Send in the Pipers ! "The Devils in Skirts" as the Germans used to call them. "They dont like it up them" as Coporal Jones used to say to Captain Mannering !

Agree with you rebgarding it sounding like a swarm of bees. I should think that being at one of those matches with all those horrible horns would give you one hell of a head ache! As for the players not being able to hear, it must put an awful strain on the ref and those giving instructions to each other. My own view would be to ban these horns and lets all be able to go to matches and enjoy, not just those that like to be brain dead for days after.....

The zulus were defeated at Rorke's Drift, they slaughtered the British at Isandlwana the previous day!

Matula (4) Thanks for that - history classes were s-o-o long ago! I suppose the Zulus sounded the retreat on vuvuzelas ...?

Ban the horns from inside the stadium? YES ! I dont usually watch football but after last nights match with horns and drums plus the poor football played by England I wont be watching much more.

There was a big discussion on this topic but the powers that be have now ruled - 'no ban' during matches. Shame. The incessant noise from those plastic 'trumpets' is driving us bonkers. Can't get into the matches and I think the fans who have travelled to support their various national teams feel cheated as their singing and cheers can't be heard. The chants of 'In-ger-land' will be lost in this World Cup. BTW, even Ronaldo had a moan about the din from thousands of vuvuzelas, saying it was 'very hard to concentrate'.

Jock1 (9) Think that's more or less what I said in my msge 8 ? "Powers that be" "FIFA" same difference? Results the same - no ban. What a din, culture or no culture.
