Is the menu just French food? When i've driven past before, i've noticed 2 entrances, one pointed to the french bit, the other pointing to the 'grill' bit.

Do they have 'normal' menu. Steaks,

I`ll second that. No contest, by far the best for that special occasion especially.

Thanks for the replies.

We want to try this place but don't really like french food, it looks like a really nice place from the outside, so as long as there's a 'normal' menu too, that's perfect!

It's a Saturday evening we're going, 2 of us. Would you recommend booking it before hand?

It is in Alsancak on the sea side of the road just before you get to Deniz Kizi hotel. It would be best to book for a Saturday.

They are very amenable, we had a very good plain steak in there a few days ago. You can ask for sauces/dressings on the side and will tailor most things to your needs.

Good question Tatum, what are the prices like? I've just heard they are very pricey, or was that an exaggeration?

Can be a little bit pricey....but well worth it. One of our favourites!

No don't do it!

Very average, and very pricy.

I paid 30TL for a pasta and beef dish, which I could quite easily have

cooked at home.

There is a good choice of restaurants in the TRNC now,

and if you want something a little special, try Number 14 in the Turkish

quarter of Girne, or The Rock's chinese restaurant, also in Girne.

That's where the president eats, enough said.

Something a little cheaper, but still very good, is Guido's, in Alsancak.

Are we talking about the same place, I didn't think St Tropez did pasta?

Going to a french restaurant and having pasta is akin to going to an indian and having an omelette! With any restaurant if you stick to what they do best you will be well served.

Save enough room for their crepes suzette or chocolate souffle! The wine is def. on the expensive side though.

Listen, if they are good, then everything they serve should be good, especially at those prices!

That's a good point Jack, why is a "French" restaurant doing Italian food... because they can't do French very well

so they just have a stab at everything!

My partner had a more traditional French dish, and let me tell you if you have been to France and tasted "real" French food, you would realise there's a huge difference.

Don't get me started on the frozen veg... have a look at previous reviews on this forum for that.

You've been warned!

Judging by the comments here St Tropez must have changed. It's been a couple of years -but every meal we have had there over the past ten/twelve years has been absolutely superb - and French!

Hi Blackbird

St Tropez has not changed, the service is still second to none and the food is still absolutely superb. Yes the prices are slightly higher, but then you expect to pay that for the good quality food and service.Message 12, who cares where the president eats, does that mean that it's a good place.

St Tropez has a choice of French cuisine and international, so where is the harm in that. Alot of restaurants including Italian have other choices of meals.

I went a few years ago, and i had one of the best steaks i've ever had on the island! A little pricey, but judging how badly steaks get cooked here, it was definitely worth it! Also had a great steak at Ezic Peanuts....delicious!!

They do a very good herb crusted rack of lamb. But let themselves down with the accompaniment of frozen veg.
