Hi There,

Can anyone advise me if a non EU resident in TRNC can cross to south once entered from Ercan?

Also, once entered from Larnaka and became resident in NC can then the exit be authorized from south?

Thanks a lot,

ML

Marilou,

As far as I know, you won't be able to cross to the South unless you have a valid visa for the RoC or a valid Schengen visa.

If you entered via Larnaca normally you should be able to leave via Larnaca. But there is ALWAYS a danger that the authorities might not like your TRNC residency stamp in your passport and black-mark you, so next time your visa to RoC could be refused.

By arriving in TRNC you will be treated as arriving at an illegal entry point and will be refused entry to RoC.

Also, as a non-eu citezen do you need a visa to enter RoC.

Thanks Clarissa I was worried for that!

Thanks Cyprusishome. Before cyprus joined the EU I didn't

need a visa but now I get it easily in 1 day from the embassy or I use the schengen. The problem is that I

will be with my son and he is american and he doesn't require visa. Since he is 7 I want to find the best way for him to leave in case I have to for my business. I don't want to be stuck with istambul only as connections from Ercan are very limited and destinations are not available or seats are sold out!

;-)

Without getting a Republic of Cyprus visa, you would of entered cyprus illegally and could be jailed and deported to your home country.

Marielouise, There are plenty of flights to Istanbul from Ercan 10 to count in the last 24 hour period. (7 IST & 3 SAW) Don't worry you could get there under normal circumstances quite quickly.

Marielou,

I will send you an e-mail today with quite a lot of details about this as I have lots of experience on the matter.

The simplest explanation I can give before that is if you come in through Larnaca on your flight which will require a visa for a non EU citizen it will be registered as legal and you should be able to cross to the north and back however you may well get asked many questions by the RoC passport control because they like to ask them.

If however you enter via Ercan, you will almost certainly be refused entry to the south because they will tell you that you have not legally entered Cyprus and therefore can not enter the RoC.

I will give more information in the e-mail as it is quite complicated although it shopuld not be.

Check with the ROC Embassy they are the best people to advise you, and have up to date information.

Hi William, Msg 8

The ROC Embassy will not give information that does not suit them. From having at times contacted them (to find out their views) I think they will probably do their utmost to put Marielouise off travelling to the TRNC.

In my view Paul in Msg 7 was generally correct in what he says. This is why as a rule at IAH we try to avoid our clients having complications and offer them Ercan as their route; we do sell Larnaca flights and have offered whole island tours but we are and will be wary of this until the political views of the ROC are more placatory.

Thanks guys for your help and info.

one last question though, do you think that once i enter from larnaka to TRNC and get the temp res. , can i still exit from ROC or it will annoy them that i have a trnc res.? maybe they will refuse my next visa..:-(

I can ask diplomat friends from ROC but it will really annoy them, they tried to put me off many times already but the funny thing is that the TRNC guys don't care from which side you enter!

The only reason i want to find out is that i will be traveling to beirut and dubai every month and leaving from larnaka is 15mins flight to beirut while leaving via istambul will be few hours and direct flight to dubai from ROC!

Flightholiday, do you work with these sectors or only with UK?

Paul, you can email me on ml.airshowspecialists@gmail.com

Hope TRNC & ROC sort their problems soon or they will end up like the rest of the middle east but at least the MEA have money to survive and these guys depend on the tourists!

Thanks a lot
