It appears that all attempts to save KTHY have failed and flights have been suspended .... and then the terrible news about the auctions of the Amaranta Valley properties. I feel really sad this morning.

What would be bleak for the long-term good of the TRNC would be for more money to be poured into KTHY with no prospect of reform... it's been a dead man walking for 5 or more years. Airlines go bust, it happens to ones in a lot better shape than KTHY. To subsidise the airline is anti-competitive, against all EU regulation and poor business practise.

There is no way direct flights from UK and other EU destinations would be allowed with an airline that operates on state handouts. So if you want direct flights the subsidies have to end first, otherwise all the other operators will have cause to take legal action.

I'll still believe it when I see it... I hope they don't let national pride fog their judgement this time.

that's what the uk should have done, let all these company's and banks go bust instead of bailing them out, we wouldn't be in so much debt now

I just feel very sorry for those people who have had to spend the night at the airport and those with tickets to come out over the summer who have been assured by people that the airline will continue:

... and my heart bleeeds for those poor Amaranta victims.

I do sympathise with those who have paid for tickets if they lose their money. It's never good to get nothing for something...

Amaranta... who will want to take on that bitter pill?

This has been on the cards for a long time.

I just hope that those who bought future tickets paid by credit card at least then they will be in with a chance of a refund. If not, then I fear that they will ahve kissed goodbye to their money.

Can you tell us where you got the info from? I have looked on the website but no mention of cancelled flights. My family have tickets to come out this summer so am interested in any info.

Thanks

I checked Stansted arrivals and this morning flight ECN via Gaziantep is cancelled. Plus overnight flight from Stansted was on hold supposedly cancelled, But can find no other info.

There is supposed to be a planned meeting this morning between ministers and airline to decide what is to happen.

I think it best to await further info before getting to excited!!! LOL. We have flights booked next Tuesday to go for parents 60th anniversary. Until there is something definite from meeting later I am not going to worry.

Can any Turkish speakers give us an accurate translation of the above, please? Google Translate leaves a lot to be desired.

No, Liz, that was the Google Translate 'translation' which I had already read and is open to interpretation. I was hoping for a more accurate translation from a Turkish speaker.
