We hope this information is helpful to those interested in the Donkeys:-

In late 2004 a chain link fence was errected around the forestry commission land to protect the area from fly tipping that had started. This area of course was where the 1974 landings took place.

The fence was done by Richard Resat Niazi after talking to his good friend the Commanding General of the Land Forces at that time, the Army agreed to do the survey and some preparatory work and Richard agreed to pay for the fence and labour required. Soon after this Richard introduced a male donkey that he had in the gardens of his unfinished hotel, after a few months a rescued female was also put into the area. NEVER intended as Beach rides.

Over the years they have improved their condidtion and now have 3 daughters and 1 granddaughter with another due anytime. Local residents in Mimoza Sokak have helped by feeding them leftovers of bread, veg and water.
