| Hi I live in Catalkoy and have a friend on holiday in Protaras (South Cyprus). I am trying to text her on her English mobile number from my Turkcell sim card but keep getting 'failed'. Is it possible to text from North Cyprus to South Cyprus? Am I just trying at wrong time? |

| I assume that you've sent messages to her before whilst in England? There is no logical reason why she should not get the text as the text is routed to the UK then her Network sorts out where in the world she is and forwards it on. Turkcell have had problems over the last few days as friends of mine have sent texts that have arrived upto 12 hours after they sent them and my replys have not been received for 2 to 3 hours and in some cases have been sent to them 3 or 4 times, although I only sent it once. The "failed" message usually happens when either the network is very busy and hasn't the capacity to cope with the amount of traffic or your signal strength wavers to much and drop outs whilst sending occur. Have you also remembered to add "+44" then dropping the "0" of her number and adding the rest of her number (a normal 07123 456789 assumes that it is to a local network and the Turks don't use the 07 prefix for mobile numbers), eg. a UK number 07123 456789 would have to be +447123456789 |
