As we are hoping to complete on our villa in September, can anybody please advise on getting a curtain/blind maker to come out, measure and to make up curtains and blinds. I will probably be taking my own fabric but if this becomes problematic where in NC can I buy high end fabrics, tie-backs etc. Thanks.

Hi Jakki

I had curtains and blinds made in June by a shop called Hay Hay it is on the Esentepe Road going to Kyrenia opposite a shop called Mermaid Fabrics. It looks like a small curtain shop but has loads of cutains when you go in. They do not speak very good English but are able to understand what you want. The man came to my appartment, measured for me put up the wrought iron curtain polls and hang the curtains, I had lined voil curtains, the lining was separate to the curtains. I also had four roman blinds made which he put up as well. It took five days to do all this and I was really pleased with the service, quality of the curtains and price. Hope this helps. Ruth.

Many thanks Graham and Ruth - Ruth, I think I know where you mean and sorry to be a pain but could you give me some idea of cost and does this include fabric as well. Thanks - Jackie

Hi Jakki

We also used The Curtain Shop. We had double iron poles (x 3), 3 sets of full length curtains for 2 patio doors and one large window and crushed voile, 3 bedroom blinds with blackout material - I think all of it came to about £700 and a bit? Hope that is of some help.

Fiskos next to Astro on road to Lapta or Mermaid Fabrics. Both very efficient and competitive and offering a large range of materials to suit most pockets plus they both speak English should your Turkish be a little weak!!!!

Hi All good morning

The Hay Hay's have a brilliant little business they are a really nice family and very reliable.

Over the years they have made blinds, pergolas, chair covers etc. for us

We have always found their first price better than anyone else, so please don't haggle too hard as everbody needs to earn a profit.

regards

Doug

Have to agree about Hay Hay - They made me a cover, pelmet & curtains for my Pergola, and each year Yusuf comes out and fits it all up for me - at no charge! (Actually, I did it myself this year, 'cos I forgot to ring him).

And what's more, when you go in, they treat you like a long lost friend

Lovely people.
