Hello, I plan to relocate from Larnaca to North but I am working in Nicosia (greek) and I will be. Is anybody in the same situation? Isnt it too complicated to cross the borders every day? How long does it take (7 am) at the borderline? Thanks a lot Irena.

90 day visa for the north

Are you an EU citizen

If not there are ports of entry and visa issues

Yes I am EU citizen. What is the period after what I have to apply for residency permit? Thanks!

My wife works in the South and lives here in the North. She travels across every day and has never experienced any problems. Going across at Metahan should be relatively quick at 7a.m. but coming back can be a bit busier particularly if you catch the traffic around 3.30/4p.m.

Good luck

Thanks for your reply Paul. Do you think it might have some tax coinsequencies for me? I understand that I will have to prove sufficient income if I want to get residency permit - so authorities will know how much I am earning. Do you think they will want to tax me on it? Thanks a lot Irena

It shouldn't have any tax consequences as you will pay tax on your earnings (if applicable) to the government in the RoC. When applying for residency here in the North you do not have to provide any proof of income, merely that you have sufficient funds in a North Cyprus bank account to support yourself.

Paul
