I have noticed many posts re cats getting lost....the most recent being Clairecat's in Karmi. Sometimes cats wander out of their territory (?chased by dog etc) so it is always worth keeping an eye out wherever you live.

Any other suggestions ? I know to my cost it can be very distressing.

I think some cats have always wandered off, but in England, we didn't all rush - or weren't able to- to put it on the internet/forum to ask for help. We just put our walking shoes on and went looking.

I think it is understandable to put it on the net if you can. The more people who know the better. I used to phone all the animal shelters too. Most people...and I know Clairecat has done this at 4am for hours..do put their walking boots on and search. I suppose non cat lovers think we're mad ! But it has happened to me so many times....and every time I have promised myself to just wait till they come home. Which they usually do...........and then go straight out again !

I think we have the extra worry here re poisoning of our pets. Some one on this forum suggested they all be shot. I would like to shoot him or am i not allowed to say that?

I just wonder sometimes if people understand the importance of keeping a cat indoors (or similarly contained) when they move house or when a cat is re-located. This is often why they wander off, loking for familiar territory.

korky is karmi born and bred and for all his life he's never gone far from the house. I am sick with worry now. He disappeared on Friday while I was out (9am-4pm). I have checked all houses and garages. I have spent every waking hour searching the undergrowth and gardens. I was walking round at 4.30am yesterday morning with my torch cos i couldn't sleep. I've put notices up and everyone in karmi is aware he's missing. I put it on cyp44 to reach others. It's the not-knowing that's killing me. It's not like him at all and he's always been kept in at night.

Hi Claire I realy hope you find your cat. It is worse not knowing than knowing and I did not mean to imply that what I said applied to everyone, I know it does not. Goood luck and I pray for a happy ending.

Msg 4: "I think we have the extra worry here re poisoning of our pets"

Six cats poisoned in the next town to where I live in UK recently, scary, don't know how people can do this.

Thank you. I can only wait now in the hope he comes home. Everyone here is searching and helping even though they're probably sick to death of me walking round calling him day and night!

Hope Korky returns soon - to give you hope one of mine has a habit of going AWOL for four days, she started it at around two years old at our old home in Yesiltepe. First time worried, second time worried now I just worry on day 3 she will not be suddenly slot in behind us when returning from a walk with the dogs. Admittedly now she is more of a townie it is less frequent. Plus they are very clever Dad's cat (feral) found its way home from Alsancak to Bellapais (when we tried re-homing) we are hoping when she comes out of quarantine she doesn't try getting back from the uk! I felt as it took her three months she was making a statement I like Bellapais and i belong to the house not people but the parents always said they would get her back eventually but unfortunately rules and regs (quarantine) delayed it and i suppose now she is six locked up isn't so bad.

No, he hasn't. I am sick with worry because this is the 5th day now and if he IS shut somewhere or has got himself stuck in this heat, there's not going to be a happy ending. I feel so useless, but I've checked everywhere and I don't know what to do now. I just keep waiting for him to walk in the door. I haven't cried this much for ages! IF ANYONE WAS UP IN KARMI LAST FRIDAY (25TH) SHOWING A HOUSE TO SOMEONE, ARE YOU ABSOLUTELY SURE KORKY DIDN'T SNEAK IN?? DID YOU END YOUR HOLIDAY IN KARMI AND LOCK UP YOUR HOUSE? ALSO REMEMBER IT WAS OVERCAST AND WINDY THAT DAY, SO HE MIGHT HAVE GONE IN SOMEWHERE ONLY TO HAVE THE DOOR/WINDOW SLAM SHUT.
