ARMED FORCES DAY- Nice to have some recognition!

I had a lovely night attending the Armed Forces Day at the Defence Attache's (DA) Residence in Beirut.

Lovely Cocktail Party, all the other DA's were there also Lebanese Dignataries as well as the Ambassador.



I asked them both as to why I had an invite and their reply was basically the same- you have done your service and today is about recognising that fact and for all those still serving, yes there were a few other British Veterans there and an enjoyable evening was had by all.



I ask the question, did this happen in Cyprus? If it did was it a'selected' invite ie former High Rankers only?

As I was an ex Warrant Officer and felt really humble and it was such a success that the Lebanese Government are going to allow a larger event next year and maybe might even have a Military Band playing.



I accept that there are not as many EXPATS living in Lebanon, but wonder if this is the common thread for EXPATS to revel in their service and it was great being appreciated.
