I keep reading conflicting statements regarding the amount of TC land that was used to build Larnaca Airport . I have read or been told many different answers from ten % up to ninety % i think it would be interesting to know the correct answer . Also has any rent been paid to the TC owner of this land .

The owner of most of this land has a restaurant near the Ship Inn.. No, he hasn't received any rent, nor has he received any rent for other land he owns in LCA (that is now a restaurant). He is however speaking to solicitors about this and this should be resolved shortly (he hopes)!

I have no idea how much of LCA is on TC land and I doubt it will be possible to find out for sure, without visiting the land registry in the South.

All appropriated land/property in the ROC is meant to be held in trust by the Government. "Rent is charged" for use of said property, whether residential or commercial.

This money is meant to be held in trust until the time of settlement.

Around 2 years ago the Government admitted there was a £100million deficit in the accounts (this will have grown)

For a TC to recover or be compensated for the loss of property they have to show they have lived in the ROC for 6 months. It has happened very rarely and causes a huge stink in the South media, with pictures of the poor dispossessed families being evicted by the nasty "Turk" ("again")

Hi Discovery, YES Larnaca airport is owned by Turkish Cypriots. My Lawyer in Girne owns most of it.
