Have you signed the petition to amend the Specific Performance Law?







Without a change in this law, it means you cannot take action against your vendor to compel them to transfer the title deeds to you. Thus some unscrupulous developers are not adhering to their side of the contract and are not willing to transfer the deeds to the buyers, using this a leveridge to extract extra funds from purchasers. There are reputable lawyers and builders/developers here but the bad ones are pulling the good ones down with them. If the Specific Performance Law was changed and the KDV was payable direct to the tax office, then it is a win-win situation for everyone. The buyer gets their title deeds, the tax office and government get their money and the developers deliver what they contractually promised.

There are thousands of people out their who haven't got their title deeds and this law affects all of them. Unless you have your kocan you do not own the property. This means many people have paid hundreds of thousands of pounds of their life savings and potentially they may never actually own it. If there is a mortgage on the land and the vendor reneges on this, your property could be put up for auction and sold. If either you or you spouse dies or your vendor dies and you don't have the kocan, this creates many more problems. You may never be able to sell your property should you wish to. You may be subject to threats or demands for more money from you vendor.







I don't know how to put it any more simply: if the specific performance law is not changed to allow buyers to sue their developer for their title deeds you may never own the property you have paid for in good faith. It's in everyones best interests to sign it and it only takes 2 mins of your time.

wyn the best thing kar could do is to give the strays a maximum perod and the put them down as in the uk this would prvent animals becomming institutionalised save funds and free up saff, but i am led to believe vets here will not assist in this matter.

Its Muslim belief that every thing human/dog etc has a right to life, and therefore putting the poor pooches to sleep in TRNC is not an option, that is why it is so important to give generously to the excellent cause. I always buy cans of dog food and biscusits by way of donations.

Little Nige You are ao right in your comments about if it has not been adopted then put it down humanely. However a lovely dog with a dislocated leg suddenly found itself in my (very small garden in Alsancak) - on a Saturday morning - I don't know but have heard a rumour that KAR release(dump) strays near Brits (or in my case Irish) people's homes at the weekend. Anyway I had guests staying and we all fed dog - then Monday I phoned KAR - to please take dog - paid VETS bill - was seriously told off by head of KAR that this animal was not an emergency - loads of puppies on dump in Karsiaka were emergency - not this poor half starved limping creature. Anyway I have paid vets bill and adopted dog to live at KAR for life. All I can say is that if I were begging in the street risking being run over by speeding vehicles and wondering where my next bowl of water was coming from I wouldn't give a fiddlers f*** for life but would want quality of life and if not that then preferably death. I was told by head of KAR that they neuter dogs tag them and release them to fend for themselves. I know cats can catch mice but if dogs are left to fend for themselves then they either starve to death or join wild dog packs up in the mountains. I so respect what KAR have done in the 12 years since I have been coming here and now decided to live here but I would love other peoples comments.
