I am moving to the UK next week and assumed I should cancel my residency. The foreign police in Girne tell me I don't need to do anything.

Anyone have any experience of this?

Thanks, Deb

Hi Deb, that's what they told me too. However, I have not been back to TRNC to test this out. I would not be surprised if they 'fined' me for each day since my residency expired. Cynical? No, simply TRNC-wise.

For all that, my ex returned for a holiday 7 months after her residency expired and had no problems.

It should not be a problem but i think it depends on the amount of time that you are out of the TRNC. If you ever come back they will just issue you with a 90 visa but if you wanted to take up temporary residency again you would have start from scratch.

I think you're both right, it depends who you give your passport to at immigration.
