Going to Kapaz is new costal road open

We are going to The Karpaz, from Girne is the new road open ? Can we now drive along the coast and not have to head inland to Iskele and Boaz ? Any help with directions appreciated.

It's not open yet. I was along there the day before yesterday. You still get diverted back to the old coast road. The section from Tatlisu to Kaplica is almost ready, and they're tarmacing from the Kakplica end. Beyond there, there's a lot of effort being put into the section towards Buyukkonuk, and for some distance you will be on the unsurfaced new section and fighting construction vehicles.

If you go over the top through Kantara, here's a tip if you're not aware. The road down to Ardahan was widened and re-surfaved in the last year. When you reach the point where there is a sort of half built roundabout and you have to turn right to get to Iskele, they had some materials left over and continued the road. If you continue, rather than turning right, the good road will run out after about a mile. You will then be on the Cyprus roads we know and love. However this is the rout the road will take when completed, and will save you a bit of time compared with the signposted route

And don't forget the road is still closed at Dipkarpaz, so if going as far as there, make sure you take the route via Kaleburnu.
