The Orams will be appearing again this week in Homes From Hell on ITV1 on Thursday 8th July 2010 at 9pm UK time.

Let's hope it doesn't do to much damage to the TRNC whilst it's in this weakened state.

Would have thought that Homes from Hell would be better doing a programme on the mortgage auctions rather than something that has been settled and wont happen again. The Orams case is history, but the property frauds are in the here and now.

The whole fear of what would happen in the wake of the Orams decision going against Linda and David seems to have been forgotten. There are much more real issues here.

There is an enemy within. Forget the Greek Cypriots without. If many of the builders and landowners hadn't played every trick in the book to con people out of cash, this country could be doing very well thank you, today. The government and the individuals involved didn't want it and TRNC PLC is reaping the rewards today. No national airline, general strike today and more in the offing. And not one of the current problems caused by the GCs.

Homes From Hell contacted the owner of the land who said that people buying property in Northern Cyprus should understand that it is like buying goods from the back of a lorry, because they might belong to someone else.

Nice to read ITV are patriotic....

Having watched last weeks Homes from Hell I would say that the TRNC is a ripple in major scams going on against foreigners. It foccussed on Dubai, in an example given the builder who ripped off millions lives in the UK ,nice posh pad, etc, etc and the british government cant help the brits who he has ripped off unless a request comes from Dubai. They have been left with no hope of refund and nothing even started. It also showed the Brit who ripped off Brits in South/Cyprus who are left with a hole in the ground and no chance of any refunds,he is now working in Dubai

Hardly surprising that the Orams feature in the program. Can't see what patriotic has to do with it.

It has already been said, the Oram's case is in the past.

The problem here is the long term one of the con-men who are landowners and builders. It people stop buying off plan then they might learn their lesson. I did and I would never do it again.

would it be worth contacting television producers inviting them to do a programme on north cyprus and the legislation here, which has previously been discussed at length ,and amounts to criminal offences but ignored by the government. Or would it do more harm than good not forgetting the complete shambles the collapse of Cyprus Turkish airlines left for everyone and tourists vowing never to come back.

We all want north cyprus to survive and go forward but I dont know how, as its not for the lack of people trying but the powers to be taking us backwards

Is the orams case in the past?

Did the govement here pay the legal bills and compensation ordered by the U.K courts ?

I have been looking on line but haven't found the answers yet.

How about ITV doing a show on the majority of people here who are happy, positive, and love life here, and how much better it is than the UK,

Don,t think so, Bad news sells newspapers, and alike.

Says it all about UK television,

message 14 and 16

The programme investigates rip offs etc, thats its sole purpose.

'Homes from Hell' warns people not to buy, or if they do, to take account of what is going on.Its not making a political statement or acting as a property promotion or to promote tourism. Plenty of those programmes already.

People do not need to be warned about how good things are.

Bit like asking why they make programmes like 'Rogue Traders' and then not interview people who have had good work.

As for the Orams case, most people in the UK would follow the line about cheap property and its risks, therefore serves you right. .Its fighting a losing battle. .A programme about the mortgage frauds would however do more to garner sympathy for us.

Far better to organise a political based programme to explain the unfairness of how the TC's have been treated .

Those unfortunate people posting about their negative experiences [especially regarding 'lawlessness'] should be owed a debt of gratitude for being positive in their sincere and timely warnings to others - should they not?

The Dubai programme was commenced a year ago ,so we can presume the Orams programme will also be out of date if shown now.

There is an e-mail address for anyone wishing to inform the programme makers of problems.

I have e-mailed and suggested that rather than concentrate on something that the ECHR has now made a non event in the future, they should do a programme on the property auctions and also include the whole of the Cyprus and the scandals in the South as well.

Whats the point of showing a programme that will be a year out of date. Now if was about the Cyprus talks then it wouldnt have mattered a jot,

Paul.

I'm sure the programme will include the last ECHR ruling and the stand off that now exists. As with the Dubai programme statements were spoken and captions shown as to the state of affairs as of the situation at the time of final editing at the beginning of June. I'm sure that the Orams case will get the same sort of ending as it's still an on going situation and will be for many years to come.

The TRNC has damaging and really important issues in respect of buying property.

To make light of it, insults honest peoples intelligence.

It is only by taking issue publically and within the law, will we be heard.

Cyprus 44 has a part to play, and does so on occaisions.

Perhaps they should review their portfolio of the most sought out properties.

It is difficult but only by keeping up the pressure will we overcome.

Some FACTS for you all:

The Orams were filmed for this programme in January when they had just lost the case. It has taken this long for the programme to come on air.

It includes the ubiquitous clip of the Turkish Army landing in 1974 but it is not anti the TRNC, it simply states what the Greek Cypriot has forced them to do.

And, yes, the Orams Case is in the past for all of you but NOT for the Orams. The lawyers continue to negotiate the costs due, a charge remains on their house in England and demolition of the Lapta property has been officially refused. They have a long way to go yet.

And don't forget, whatever the suffering experienced by Brits in the TRNC whether from unscrupulous builders, banks or vengeful Greek Cypriots, the stress, pain and financial loss is equal for all whatever the cause.

The Orams Case may be "in the past" but if a Greek Cypriot has enough money, it could still happen to someone else despite The Immovable Property Commission. Cont...............

Just one more point.

Apostolides, the Greek Cypriot who won the case always said he didn't do it for the money but for his mother.

So............I wonder if he has donated the thousands and thousands he has already received to a worthwhile charity in his mother's name? I bet he hasn't!!!
